Which group were you in? Saw an 899 and a v2 out there today. We were on a pair of tuonos in the lower group, taking it pretty gingerly but still had a laugh by the afternoon (although it was pretty empty by then).
Gingerly means you were smart. I Was in inters today on a v2. Had a few red flags, but probably no more than normal. Was better day than expected by the end although I had some auto blipper issues which peed me off, felt I got to about 85% of my norm.
Mate was there for his first ride on his new race bike, a massively over powered 620 monster with 916 fairing
I was there yesterday and today and yesterday was a piss take in the fast group as far as I’m concerned! A good few stock racers just racing each other! I got stood up a few times! Had it just been one I’d have gone and found him but it was lots of them so pointless! This is the problem with no limits, they just won’t monitor the riding!, say what you want about Healy but he would have sacked em off! First session some joker came around me end of coram and there was no way he was gonna make it and sure enough he lost the front! I was fair motoring but was fully aware of the track temperature and can’t understand what goes through some people’s minds sometimes!!! Got there this morning and knew the temperature wasn’t gonna get much more than 6/7 degrees so went home!
Although I wasn't counting, seemed like the most red flags today were in advanced group. Think it took 1 sighting lap for the first to bin it.
Doesn’t surprise me Jamie! I spoke to a few mates who are local and they said weather got better eventually and with nearly four hour trip home I wasn’t gonna sit it out! Think I managed to get around 10 clear laps yesterday after coming down pit lane and waiting to get a clear lap! There’s a lot of guys sat at home right now with broken egos and broken bikes!
I’m on most if not all FE days this year mate. we do try to police things as best as we can I always take note of things like this on forums etc and try and ensure that all the guys I work with are on the same page with it. It’s not 100%, nothing ever is. but Dale etc are shit hot with this stuff. I’ve had words with numerous guys over the last year or so, as have my colleagues. We do our best and are always open to input.
Oulton last week was nearly as bad. Cadwell open pit next week so hopefully I’ll get some decent time on track. Might go over to MSV for the majority back end of the year and see if it’s any calmer than NL.
I think the majority just book whatever suits their personal schedules. Other than getting black flagged for being a tool, I'm not too sure how it makes all that much of a difference. Happy to be corrected however and I'm sure I will be
What? Brake lever guard? It acts as a brake lever guard. Not really necessary for a track day I don’t think but racing yes. 15 bikes trying to get the hole shot after lights out. I’d imagine it’s pretty hairy tipping in and plenty of potential for brake levers being accidentally caught.
People who aren’t at least front end of inters who do open pot tend to then moan and groan about riding and are silly to do them. Tends to be racers etc using the time for set up rather than track day warriors
I thought I was pushing it with 2 days on the go end of May... 3 days and I'd be starring in a modern day western movie.
Completely agree that’s how it should be but they never end up that way! Last open pit at Cadwell the bloke next to me was doing 2.30’s.
