Keeping Up Appearances ..

  1. Just done 3 days at cadwell. Monday there was a red flag on the sighting laps in the fast group. Rest of the day was pretty good to be fair. Tuesday was a bit shitty with the weather. Wednesday, open pit lane. Can only describe it as dangerous at times. The speed differential was ridiculous. As was some people's track sence. Yellow flag, your supposed to knock it off a bit, no overtaking. I came up behind riders who had slowed down to 10mph. Another time i was watching from near the cafe. Saw about 5 riders slow down. I presumed it was a red flag.no flag, i presume they were just waiting for each other

  2. Imho they should have a participant rule (they used to): fast or fat/inters with at least 30 (?) Trackdays experience as a minimum entry requirement. I’ve done open pit on a 52hp monster which was flat out at 108mph and never had issues as I know where to be on track and was as quick as anyone from mountain to hairpin.

  3. It is suoposed to be inters and fast, but the trouble is, when i used to ride in inters, there was lot's in there who shouldn't have been so when they book openpitlane, the organisers can look at there bookings history and they may have done trackdays in inters, when they should have been in the slow group. Not sure what the answer is

  4. Ime slower riders who do OP days normally don’t do a second as they get scared/angry at the overtakes, which often are closer than they like

  5. I think that is probably a fair assessment for the commercially arranged days. The small independent we use is ideal for mixed ability, usually 6 or 7 hours of track time a day for 3 or sometimes 4 days and limited to a maximum of 45 riders. Plenty of track time for mixed ability riders not to have to mix. It’s become standard practice over our time with this group for the fast boys who are eager, to go out first and get knackered after the first hour which gives time for the not so quick riders to get their eyes in. That sets the pattern for the rest of the holiday but with that amount of track time available, everyone gets plenty. Currently planning to get to Almeria in October. Andy

  6. Apples and pears Andy: high end, high cost foreign multi-day trips vs stack-em-high, lowest cost NL type days.

  7. Open pit lane is ace. However, (IMO) you need small mixed group, or large(r) same/similar ability group.
Oversubscribed mash-up ain't going to end well.
