Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by suruppak, Jun 14, 2018.

  1. Pocket. and spare key in other pocket in case I left the master at Home.

  2. Yes eventually.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  3. I lost my last one on my 1200s
Have the remote fuel release now on my 1260s BUT did manage to lose my credit card out my pocket

  4. I have the key in my jacket pocket on its own , but the rate its starting to go through batteries is scary !!

  5. which presents another highly potential problem, based on numerous reports from Multistrada owners all over the planet ... when the keyless fuel cap refuses to open. then you need to not only carry the key fob, but an allen wrench to remove the bolts attaching the fuel cap to the fuel tank.

the lanyard solution is the easiest and most fool-proof, IMHO.

  6. Keep a spare CR 2032 under your seat, spare cut key in right hand pocket, master stuff in inside pocket never out.

  7. Well I'm gonna say it, keyless starting is a complete waste of time on a bike!
At least you know where the thing is if it's sitting in the ignition right in front of you, I'm forever patting my jacket pocket as i ride down the road!
Couldn't understand why my first Multi would start in the garage when the key was in the house then I discovered someone had taped a transponder inside the fairing, bloody ingenious:thinkingface:

  8. Been using the lanyard method for three years. It's around your neck so it doesn't get lost. Mine also has a quick detach so you can take the key off the lanyard for opening fuel door without removing lanyard from my neck. Only carry a spare when traveling long distance.

  9. Or you make sure the connector to the flap is accessible. Usually unplugging and replugging fixes any problem. That is unless you forced it shut :yum
In 8 years of ownership I've never had to unbolt it, but I have had to unplug it a few times (I just know I'm going to regret saying that and it will go wrong now : unamused:)

At least the new keys have a loop on them, unlike the original keys.

  10. Where’d you locate the connector John W to make it accessible ?

  11. On my 2012 bike it is to the right of the steering head, where some of the cables and the brake pipes are. there is sufficient cable for it to be here. I just tuck it out the way behind the breather hose.
On my 2018 endure I intend to place it under the cover where the emergency start button is.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  12. That's what I did with mine, but never had an issue to unplug it so far
