as soon as it’s Russian owned again though with current embargo’s it won’t be worth them doing business here

When I was reading the above statement from KTM, I had an image of 'Pinocchio's nose growing' pop into my head. I wish KTM well, but it doesn’t look good.
This was a post on MV Agusta Facebook page today "Went for a run out today to Wheels in Peterborough as I’m contemplating buying a brand new bike (having never had a brand new bike). Wheels are Moto Guzzi, Honda, MV Agusta main agents. Asked for a price to change bikes with my Turismo as px.. guess what, they won’t take KTM’s or MV’s as a px!! That’s right, an MV main dealer flogging £15k to £20k+ MV’s in their own showroom won’t touch MV’s as a px! So basically they want you to buy a brand new MV product with cash from them that they won’t touch themselves.. outrageous and MV once they get up and running again should take that franchise away from them.."
This can happen at any dealer. Ducati in Preston wouldn't take my V4 multi in a trade-in on a new multi. Said the mileage was too high. ( 22000 miles)
That's dreadful, so we can't buy a premium (over priced?) touring bike, and then go touring, put good miles on it, because the dealers of said bike won't buy it back. It's funny when I bought my PP, 16 months old, 13k miles I was told by Ducati Cambridge that miles don't matter anymore as they're reliable nowadays, so, being gullible I bought it, and have stupidly used and done more miles. looks like an expensive mistake.
Having said that. I would rather buy a higher milage well maintained and serviced bike to use rather than a laid up a lot of the time poorly maintained Garage Queen, thats been only used for short runs! Just saying.
For the group. KTM Motorcycles the debts are 1.8 billion. If KTM fail, there will be a lot of motorcycle dealerships going out of business.
I wouldn't call it an expensive mistake, as all these premium bikes loose their value irrelevant of mileage. I eventually traded mine in with 25000 miles for £9750, which they sold in two weeks for 12k. Which seems about right to me. My new Multi which I bought heavily discounted with 4k off , feels no different to my old Multi, which was 100% reliable. As this may be my last big touring bike: starting again with the four warranty, was the appeal . But I do sometimes think; should I have bothered !!
Yup, being trying to downsize my 1290SAR to a 701 Enduro. You would think it had the plague; the only quote I have received is a laughably low-ball offer from We Buy Any Bike aka the Superbike Factory.
