  1. You need to buy in February really when they've got a lorry load of new models due in any minute and need to clear the decks.
    If you want the latest reg brand spanker on the first sunny bank holiday in May, unfortunately you have to queue up behind the creaky leather 500 mile year pooftas who'll pay anything to have some new chicken strips to polish.

  3. By August bank holiday it'll be raining and the garage queens will be back in their Audis and their Diesel jeans and their bikes will be on Fleagay still with the original fuel in the tank. That's the other option.

  5. That's what I did. Bought an outgoing plate in February with 2.5K off.
    TBF there were better deals about last year because they were bringing out the revamped '17 model and buyers wanted the new one over the old, especially the White and bronze SE which never sold as well as the standard orange or black ones. They were down to under 11K at one point from 14.5K for brand new unregistered bikes. They started shifting them then. That's how it is with KTM, you've just got to time it right and not be a reg number tart.

  6. Yep, I tend to buy my bikes when a new model comes out. Let someone else take the hit and I'll pick up a lightly used example of the older model when the time is right. I don't need this week's latest must have bike / phone / car / tv / clothes / widget, to add meaning to my life. :)

  7. A van load of new tyres would add meaning to my life right now...
    With the SDR I seem to spend my time calculating whether if I ride it again before Wednesday I'll have enough rubber left for the planned trip, rideouts etc the following weekend and ringing round trying to find someone with rear on the shelf who can do a last minute fitting.

  8. I saw one of these in Holland Park today (White and Orange) being ridden by a guy in a Ducati jacket. Anyone here?
     
  9. Deal done on a white one. There wasn’t much movement on price but trade in value was more than fair which made up for it. Chopped in the 899 and my Speed Triple. Bike gets delivered on Friday. Ordered it with the Evo system, performance pack and heated grips.

    Worth getting a rad protector, and if you’re a tart like me, some 3m tape on the fork stanchions as they get peppered with stones and the black paint chips.

    Rad guard was top of my list. Was looking at an Evotech one but read something about it rubbing on full lock. Good hint about the 3M tape.

    Got to get the run in service out the way ASAP as I’ve got a run to Scotland in 10 days. Might need to have a few hours out over the weekend and get it done although they said it’s quite flexible and they’ve had customers hit 1300 miles before the service gets done.
     
  12. Evotech seems fine and is what my longstanding KTM dealer uses.

    My dealer wasn’t too bothered but had to fudge the mileage as I went over on the first service. It’s so addictive it took me about 3 or 4 rides.

    I went for the KTM tail tidy but I think the Evotech is smarter and will be easier to clean. Getting crash protection fitted this weekend in preparation for 10 days away. Evotech again, it’s not cheap...

    Also, rear tyres last around 2,500 miles if you’re lucky. I’m just about to stick on Roadtec 01s with the hope of getting some more life out of them.
     
  13. I've had an Evotech rad guard on mine from day one. Fits perfectly and doesn't rub on anything. Buy with confidence. Looks OE and much better than having your rad matrix battered.

  19. OK @Jimmy899 , I got side tracked with other stuff and this went on the back burner for a while, but chased up yesterday. Sent off a KTM web configurator to a couple of dealerships, which had this my final spec on.

    Got a note back from P&H quoting over 9k to change for my 2016 1200S Multi (Kiss my arse P&H) and 7200 to change from DMC in Brum. Emailed Claudio at DMC back, said 6k, you gotta deal ?? He said no to start with but rang back this zarvo and said yes, so ordering in the morning, think I'm going to go for black, as if I go orange and get fed up, its an orange frame, where if I go black, can always add some orange bits.....Job jobbed. :upyeah:

  20. DMC had bikes with Akra and QS for 15k. Are they all gone?
