  1. Is it Father to a murdered printer, husband to a murdered monitor...?. And I will have its vengeance, in this life or the next...?

  2. Same here and doesn't matter if you spend £300 or £800 they omly last 18 months!

  3. And for the last 6 months it's obsolete!

  4. I think you have to 'treat em mean' i have an Acer laptop with my job, about 3 years old now, it gets thrown around the car, taken & used in factories, covered in crap most of the time, one hinge has completely been torn out, & it still works fine. i have a new one, but it's on windows 7, which i hate, so wont use yet.

  5. Get an ipad!

  6. Or do it properly n get a MacBook Pro!

  7. Depending on how much excel use, you could get away with a 1st gen iPad for about £300, QuickOffice Pro is good enough for basic office tasks.

  8. Well you won't get a Mac for that. But then you wouldn't get a top quality Termi system for that either.

The laptop to get now is the Mac Pro 15" Retina. A seriously tasty piece of computer (in as much as I can get excited by a computer).
Fast, thin, light, best screen on the market and a Mac to boot. But 300 notes? You're having a laugh.

  9. What's another 600 sheets between friends tho.

  10. Not much, it seems on this forum, when it comes to blinking your bike!

Still, I agree that we all have the right set of priorities. The carbon bits on your Duke have a longer shelf life than a laptop.

  11. For something that has so few moving parts I fail to see why they don't last longer!
    Scheduled redundancy I recon!

  12. They last as long as you like, it's just that the technology moves on so fast that within 4 years your top-of-the-range, all-singing all-dancing box is just something that makes children laugh.

A bit like if the best MotoGP bike could barely cut it in Moto3 4 years later.

  13. Nope - couldn't give toss if it now appears slow or is incapable of running Black Ops/Call of Duty/Football Manager!
Just want the bastard to boot-up and flippin' work and not present me with the blue screen of despair!

  14. Much as I love the display, these machines require you to chuck out all your old power supplies as they've changed the magsafe adapter, also there's practically no upgrade path or parts swapout in the event of failure or damage.
    I still want one.

  15. All of the above is correct.

  16. The red anus has landed... ooops...
