  1. She’s a cruel mistress alright and pissed off JP didn’t let him win yesterdays stage even more now :joy::joy:

  3. Disappointing for MC to go out through injury. Not the way his retirement tour should go, shame that.

But, it does seem somehow fitting to be equal with Eddie Merckx on stage wins.

It's kind of like nobody wants anybody to beat Joey's TT win tally. Equal feels right.

  4. For me The Tour and the Astana team have received huge publicity from Mark outside the GC riders of course, so everybody's a winner this year. Back in 21 when he won 4 sprints adding to his overall total and matching the great EM said it all about the MC character, with good legs and plenty more wins available before he called it a day, i can't help wondering why he wasn't picked last year, conspiracy theories kickin like Lewis not surpassing the German's all time record.
Anyway he's left a mark in the sand bigger than a JCB swinging along with Fatboy Slim's Dj set..

  5. Rumour mill is he’s been offered a place in Astana for 2024 should he wish to take up the option.

  6. ...........and then the movie with a English actor, Hollywood are licking their lips as we speak.$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

  7. I make that pog 2-1 up in head to heads with JV after week one , 17 seconds down. The rest is just a noise after yesterday for me.

  8. I will keep watching, but yeah, a major point of interest has gone.

  9. Yes for me he's the stronger rider, but it's only the first week and Jumbo need to change tactics for week 2.!!
......and please sack The Tour scouts, 35 years since we're there last, shame on them.!

  10. First week highlights

  11. Great race so far, such a shame about Cav, he really looked like he had the stage won the day before (without the mechanical issues) he got such a great jump.

I don’t know how I feel about him doing another year, in some ways I’d love him to break the record but I don’t feel like he needs to prove anything with the amazing record he already has.

  12. If he didn't have his illness / condition he'd have cracked the forty mark a longtime ago in my opinion, whether he rides another Tour or not he'll be remember for a long period from now.

  13. Also watching the Netflix documentary Tour de France Unchained. Apart from the dodgy overdubbing and somewhat contrived set ups it really shows the suffering these guys go through. Interesting to see behind the scenes.

  15. Has anyone done the tdf that can advise on what the coup is with regards spectating on a stage like today? Presumably in a camper van you get there the night before park up and sit in until the roads re open (any idea how long that takes ) otherwise you walk/cycle up 17k and back down again after it’s done?

  16. Haven’t watched a mountain stage it’s always been Roubaix stage of TdF or ‘The Hell of the North’ in all its Spring glory. Take a gander at this article

  17. A great result from Ineos yesterday winning the stage, Vingegaard must stop the rot and attack today or he could lose the battle.

  18. Thanks, my mate wants to do the cobbles but I’m gunning for a week in the alps.

  19. Cobbles is a long weekend max, if you live down South it’s an easy hop over. We used to ride the course well part of it in the buildup. We’d occasionally see the teams out on a recce but mostly enthusiastic cyclists riding pre race.

Now they have the sportive the day before there is even more to see, don’t park near the velodrome the day before as your vehicle will be towed away as my van very nearly was……
