I presume there can be canbus problems when using a mix of ducati wirning parts and aftermarket switches/lights? As in error reports on the dash. My Hawk f/lights were wired in by Aylsbury Ducati when bought from them by original owner. Interesting to see how they were done.
Nope, no problem at all. all the stuff about canbus problems is generally to do with blown bulb detection when the lamps are directly controlled by a module. since these are connected to the accessory socket via an in line switch, there is no problem at all. hope that helps
Might be different if anyone was fitting 'conventional' (haolgen or HID) spots......MUCH higher current draw than LED's - in that case you should take power direct from the battery via a fused feed (or through an aux power distribution box / fuse panel) switched via a Relay which could use the GPS socket on the bike as the 'trigger' feed. Copy and paste from another thread as it's kind of relevant:
Yes Andy you are correct if the current will exceed the fuse rating. it still has nothing to do with throwing bulb failure ( aka can bus) errors though. hope that makes sense.
OK got all that. Like the look of the Ducati f/lights. That's where my Hawk lights were mounted originally which caused a new rad to be had due to cracking issues where said lights mounted to rad. Now my Hawks hang off the nudge bars which makes it look like a GS when viewed head on
Found out like many others that the switch light is annoyingly bright at night so hole punched a bit of black elec tape out n it cuts the blinding light out nicely to a dull glow
