such a tragic waste. So many girls lost into this life were probably just one or two bad decisions away from a normal happy fulfilling life. This sort of cold hard reality is genuinely heartbreaking.
Final Edition PMSL !!! What would you do with your pimp limp?????? Speaking as one of them women things. I am all for legalisation. I have lived in two red light districts (I did not know until I moved explains the cheap rent) it was not pleasant , I had people shagging in the alley next to my house. Men peering through our windows. On top of that syringes thrown into my garden and drugs items. Crime through the roof. Then went into the bike garage and a user had OD'D in there and bled out to death. Guess where I lived....... Well you know the Suffolk strangler who killed 5 working girls in short succession ??? I lived in the house he lived in and took the girls back to.I can see exactly how he did it at that location. Obviously not when he lived there. But I would say he moved into that house for that reason.... We had a working lady of 67 next door but one. The across the road one who painted her wheely bin red and wheeled it out when she was open for business. The crime and drugs issues in the area went hand in hand and it really was not a nice place to live in .. I suffered several incidents of theft and trying to get the council to come and dispose of needles was a joke at the time. Sexual urges are natural human nature. If girls could work in a safe clean legal health checked environment it would cut out a lot of the criminal element. I also suspect it would stop some sex crimes. It would protect the people wanting the services and the staff suppling it. Its a win win situation They could even do a pensioner special day and Orange wednesday seriously I do not have a problem with it at all.
It won't happen, because it won't work. If you think that legalizing prostitutes will suddenly kill off all the baddies you are deluded. If you think the women will suddenly have a happy, safe, drug-free life, think again. All that will happen is the sales of neon lights will increase... Installing a legalized sex industry won't make a blind bit of difference to the illegal sex industry, except maybe the girls will have to work harder for their money. The criminals won't go away; they'll be running both the legal and illegal industries, and the legal front is a boon for them because the authorities would have less reason to question their activities. Do you think the drugs and abuse will go away? You're mad if you do. No sane woman goes into prostitution of their own free will, they are coerced into it, drugged into it, beaten into it, scared into it, blackmailed into it. Legalizing the sex industry will not change that. And no matter how liberal you may think you are, you will scream blue murder if a tom sets up shop next door to your house. Nothing will change that, it will never, ever, be seen as an acceptable business. Do you honestly think that legalizing prostitution and drugs has ended crime in Amsterdam? You are wrong. Very wrong.
Figaro, I don't think anyone expects it to suddenly cure all the worlds woes. What it would do is reduce the number of girls working in unsafe conditions. I'm sure you're right in that most of the girls currently working in the industry aren't there because they want to, but having watched a couple of programmes on brothels in the USA and Australia, about legal brothels, the girls who were there, were working of their own free will, and felt safe doing so.they were in a clean, drug free environment, were checked regularly to ensure their health, each customer had to wear a condom, for the safety of both parties, they contributed to the tax system and earned a decent wage. This would have to be a long term project to gradually make it less attractive to those doing it illegally, and therefore meaning the legal ones would become the norm. I don't think the idea of simply using an ordinary property is a good one, they would, in my opinion, need to be away from town centres, thereby helping to clean up the streets for the normal residents.
It won't, though. The illegal industry will still be there, and may become even more dangerous, dirty and unsafe. The old industry won't go away, in the same way that it hasn't in Holland. I can't speak from first-hand experience, but my mate is a cop in Amsterdam, and tells me that there is a thriving illegal sex scene there, with all the associated problems of the UK prostitution scene. Nor is the drug issue under control there. The legal side of prostitution is a totally separate entity, but still encroaches on residential life. So nothing is improved, and maybe a few more women are lured into the sex trade that they would otherwise never have considered. In my view it's a bad thing all round, and cures nothing.
The naivety of this post is staggering, and really does reveal that your only exposure to this world is through a couple of (suitably edited) TV programmes Do you think you'd be mentally unaffected and remain a balanced, normal person after being rogered and violated by strangers all day who only want you because they are so fucked up they can't form normal relationships, or they want to force you to do things that other people won't? Do you think you'd be as jolly and happily adjusted as your message implies after being used for the 25th time that day, knowing it'll all happen again tomorrow when another waster turns up with £50 in his pocket and thinks he can pick one of you or your "co-workers" like he'd pick a joint of meat in the supermarket? Wake up man and get real!
So you believe it's better to let it carry on the way it is then? Women forced into the industry, innocent folk having to live with it on their streets, those who use the services putting their health at risk, etc. I'm not saying that everything is going to be ok, all I'm suggesting is that we need to try something to make it a safer industry. As others have said, it's the oldest industry in the world, it's going to go on so as reasoned human beings should we not try to do something about making it safer? You're right, I have no personal experience of the industry, I have no need, but some people do. I followed the Suffolk case with some interest as its not that far from me. There is still an open murder case for a girl from a few miles down the road from where I live. She was a working girl, who was out on the streets, not in a relatively safe, controlled, brothel. The current laws only encourage it to be an " underground " issue, meaning everyone who works in it is therefore outside the law. Surely it's better to bring it within the laws of the land than leave it totally open to pimps who exploit the workers? as for the issue of the persons mentality, I don't know, I assume that yes, I would be affected, there are some who wouldn't, there are some for whom it would be totally unsuitable as they're mental strength is not enough, but in a controlled environment, none of the workers would be forced into doing something they aren't prepared to do.
Umbra, Figaro there is plenty of women advertising they look for a sponsor. It is a form of prostitution where instead of money goods are exchanged so free place to live, eat and dress. Illegal underground does not get interested in that as there is no real gain in it, one women, one man, longer term, no real profit in comparison to what they do now. Yet it still exists. Yes there are women that would choose that job. Finally bondage and women that are domina (dominatrix) you honestly thing they would do it (being domina) if they did not want to? On a happier note. Imagine the H&S executives job. A briefing every morning, before every shift or for every client. Women wearing protective equipment You know gogle, mouth cover just to avoid accidental fluid exchange. Slips, trips and falls could be a proper problem as well.
Think about this. Say that supermarkets are places where you go in, get beaten up , have your cash stolen and you get thrown out in the street to wander around in a dazed and vulnerable condition. Then someone comes up with the bright idea that there could be supermarkets where you go in, pay cash and get groceries, and you leave the premises safe and sound. But there's no support for the new type of supermarket because, well, hey, it wouldn't solve anything and anyway the old type of supermarket will still exist. Have I got this right?
So, that's that sorted and squared away Next - World peace and Freedom From Hunger Loz/ Not sure about supermarkets, but every time my Missus comes back from a shopping trip I feel the same as you describe in line 2
No I don't believe legalising is the magic cure all solution. However sex is natural , it's a normal human urge. Surely by giving people a safer healthier option can't be bad. Women can choose that profession if they so wish , despite what you say there are plenty of woman who describe themselves as having a high sex drive who do choose to be escorts , why not let them work safely cleanly and provide a service if they so wish? Men can go somewhere safe clean and legal if they so wish. I lived by a massage parlour ( just been shut down for being a knocking shop) and watching who went in and out was interesting. The majority if clients where older gentlemen some lonely and a few I knew from working In bars who had lost their wives . I'm sorry but I really don't have an issue with that. I think people should be given the opportunity to have somewhere to go that's safe and legal . And that a female if she so wishes to work in that profession should be able to in a safe clean environment. It's the oldest profession... It won't go away it is human nature.. Hard wired into us or there would be no human race. I'm pro choice .
You have a remarkable talent for posting the most blindingly obvious, simplistic statements, dressed up as though you are telling us something radically new and fresh Another old bollocks myth that whores are offering a public service for widowers and old boys - Shite!
The trouble being legalised prostitution will do little or nothing to curb the excesses of illegal prostitution. There will still be huge money for criminals to make from it, there will still be vulnerable women forced into it, kidnapped, beaten and forced to undergo degrading and violent acts on a daily basis. Legalising and regulating it will not change their lives one bit.
This is the truth. The illegal operation will still go on, women will still be abused, battered and killed. But it'll happen on a larger scale because the legal and illegal operations will merge to some extent. A very small amount of women will enjoy the life, the vast, vast majority will not. Making prostitution legal will bring more punters, which will require more toms, and it ain't a job you're likely to see in the job centre, so that means more coercion, more drugs, more beatings...
Well that's who I saw going in and out all the time there just saying what I saw with my own eyes. It's a small town here . Obviously after the killings here the streets where the girls worked where cleared ... There is no really visible red light district it has now moved into massage parlours and flats ... Out of sight out of mind maybe. Basically unless someone invents away of taking away the bad genes there will always be the criminal element involved in something and always the deviant out there again human nature... We are all wired differently. I'm really quite surprised. Maybe I am just an idiot .I live in a town that was rife with prostitution and girls would train down from Nottingham to work. A lady I used to serve her daughter was a prostitute and very well featured on the news up here. She basically met a boyfriend who seemed ok he have her a heroin hit and then that was that she was an Addict. She turned to prostitution to feed her habit. Her mum took her in and she basically stole everything to pay for her habit. Her mum kicked her out. She did not want to get clean. When the murders started she carried on working.., because she needed her hit. When they cleared the streets she tried to get clean got lots of help as lots of the girls did but just couldn't. Stole again got put away again. My step sister is an ex addict my dads daughter from his second marriage . Again it's been hell. She'd get clean then off she would go again. The health service has spent thousands on rehab for her... I mean thousands , so has my Dad.... I've run out of sympathy for her now sorry. She has had so many chances its crazy . She's stolen from our family .. Made life hell for them at times.. I wish I'd been given all the chances and money she had.. The drugs where her doing and she basically chose to carry on. My friends husband was an addict for 20 years.. He's turned his life round got clean stayed clean has a job a family and is inspiring. I honestly don't know what the answer is.. Maybe there is no solution. I just felt a safe choice for those who want it for such a basic human need made sense. Coming from someone who has lived in red light districts and a town where prostitutes where killed.. Oh business men was another breed who nipped in. There is a B&B style star guide booklet for parlours as well !
As someone who has had a hard time on the relationship front, it would appear on the surface legalised prostitution would be an excellent option, (I am after all still a relatively young guy with needs) however I feel that if I were to use the services of said establishments, I'm not sure I could live with the feeling that I have used a woman purely for her body, even though it was completely consensual, not to mention the emotional aspect of it. The illegality of prostitution is a valuable insulator from the inevitable guilt cycle that would occur if I went that route.
