Let's Hear About Your R53's

  1. Yes for that model, seemed to fetch better money than the Anthracite/Black version I purchased.

For the Clubman prefer the Ermin White(not its BMW colour reference), but needs to be all over. Trying to convince my Son to buy a Clubman when he gets round to passing his test so he can transport his equipment round from his various hobbies. Cheap for him to insure as well.

  2. I used to have a 2016 clubman. Fantastic car, had it from new and put 98000 miles on it before I went back to BMW as my daily driver.

  3. Will it just unbolt?

  4. Mine is black. So my plan is to go fully murdered out… de-chrome etc, but need to do the engine. In defence of that mini with the big spoiler, it is a really common mod’

  5. Once seen…………though

  6. Partners had 2, first one was White with high mileage but a great spec got murdered by an inattentive driver who ran into the side.

  7. cracking job!!

  8. it will unbolt, looks like a non-obtrusive type and what's more the car is still for sale!

was surprised at the price for some of the parts for this being so cheap, I can remember a Lancia volumex supercharger costing the absolute earth s/h over 20 years ago.

  9. Get round there and snap it up.
Like the colour, superchargers from what I recall need a service or at least it’s advised to at 100,000miles.
Not sure on the parts cost as I only ever did the usual service items.
Lancia didn’t ever seem to be an ‘everyman’ car over in the UK so possibly hence the price inflation. Always seemed to me to be FIAT for the more budget minded followed by AR then Lancia.

  10. I'm no Gordon Murray or Adrian Newey, but wouldn't some rear downforce move the centre of pressure forwards, which would help counteract the tendency of FWD hot hatches to cock a rear wheel on corner entry and therefore keep as much rubber on the road as possible?

  11. I’d never seen one of those on the road until about a month ago but since then I’ve seen no less than 6 of them, including this one yesterday. They’re as common as muck!

  12. Hmmm, a 991 gen 1. Even on that it looks a bit suss. I’ve only ever seen one in the wild…

    Pretty pointless road car…

  13. I also wondered whether it was a genuine one. It’s odd that I’ve seen so many in such a short space of time though, including two in one day in mid December.

  14. Can’t tell for sure if it’s genuine. It’s got the vented front wing but dunno what’s going on with the rear wheel… what’s with the white?

  15. you are right of course, and it surprised me just how many supercharged Mins were made.

  16. They were sold in great numbers to women of a certain age, to supplanted by the FIAT 500 once the mini got bloated out by consumer desires IMO.

It’s an aero wheel cover. There were vents and ducts galore all over the car, but something about it seemed off. I only did a quick drive by and didn’t linger to examine it in any detail though, as it was parked in an area where taking photos of people’s cars is likely to lead to aggro.
