I had a proper mini back in the day I bought it from one of the lads in a local car body repair shop back in the 80's He had modded it to a 1275GT with bucket seats, peco exhausts and I forget what wheels it had similar to what I have on my Mini now. This one was blue too. Had a little steering wheel as I recall will see if I can find some pics later
Poor girl An old boy decided to turn right coming the other way in front of me i tried to avoid him and ended up backwards next to a fuel pump in the garage opposite the turning
the weird middle ones were, the new ones are BMW. The R53 ones were actually a Chrysler block. and the gearbox internals were Rover in the 5 speed Mini Coopers' Getrag in the 6 speed. Don't ask me how I know :-(
I have a quick question for all the Mini experts on here please. My Partner's Son had an excursion off the road at the weekend, the airbag has gone off in the passenger seat. The Insurance company are writing it off because of that without even inspecting it. I know its not worth that much (Park Lane Edition on a 55 plate) but is a new seat that expensive?
Unfortunately you'll probably find that a new seat is simply not available any more, and the insurance will only work on replacing with genuine new parts. Sounds like an ideal opportunity to buy it back, fit a used seat and enjoy it. With that age of car the difference in value of a CAT registered one and 'clean' one will be negligible by the time it's sold.
Never used these but on search could you buy the mini back and get a new air bag fitted https://airbagteam.com/product/mini-clubman-r55-2007-2013-passenger-side-seat-airbag-n-s/
don't know about you, but I would never take a "civilian"/ragtop* around a track now though. *i.e. - no roll-over protection apart from "A" pillar.
Mrs now wants a new JCW as her next car. Well, she wants a Cooper S, but I want a JCW, so she’ll have what she’s given!
that's why i qualified it, I don't know the exact provisions in place for the Min in the picture. I think i've seen chrome hoops just behind the seats on these, but how effective these are I don't know - usually nowhere near as effective as a tin-top.
