Lewis Hamilton 2017

  1. If you know him your opinion counts more for sure - most opinions are based on hearsay and opinion from afar Mr Hamilton :):upyeah:

  2. Knowing a superstar is a game-changer. Who else do you know? Elton John would be impressive... :p:joy:

Most make an option based on: first hadn't knowledge thru high exposure, first hand with occasional exposure, an experience of meeting at an event, a mate who had said experience or what comes over on TV interviews.

TBF I worked with a fella who worked at his team and said he was a knob. But often they were time-pressured environments he met him in, no down the pub or when he's doing charity work that no one knows about :upyeah:

  3. Yeah yeah, me and Elvis good mates too, I'm in the pub with him now.....:D

  4. One of my friends is an official photographer for F1, and he says he's a dick as well?

  5. I rubbed shoulders with a member of the Williams F1 senior management team at a children's party a few years ago (long storey).

I childishly asked "who's the best F1 driver then?" He replied (I'm paraphrasing) "Hamilton, data shows it". Apparently, it's a given in the paddock. But he also hinted he was a bit of an acquired taste

  6. Well I'm no huge F1 fan, certainly not as I was around Senna's era (that was the only 'fast shit' that was on TV then anyway, apart from movies with car chases etc) but Lewis is demonstrably one of the most successful, and therefore greatest, drivers ever.

Who here wouldn't want to be a Formula 1 driver let alone a champion? Who here can imagine a life spent, from childhood to the current day, as these modern champions have had to get to where they have? I doubt anyone here can imagine growing up like that. I doubt many, if any, of these guys had anything approaching what most of us could consider 'a normal childhood' and what that means going forward.

I also doubt any of us here can understand what it's like traveling the world, with money falling out of the sky at you constantly, and people treating you as if you are some kind of god and constantly licking your ass one way or the other, or trying to 'get in' for selfish or nefarious reasons.

Who here can really understand what it feels like to work your entire life to date towards one aim and to finally get there?

I reckon you'd have to be 'Iron Man' not be irrevocably changed by all the above.

Some people don't like the clothes he wears, or his hair styles, tattoos, colour of his skin, music he likes, or whatever - so what?

We're lucky, not only do we follow the world's greatest sport in MotoGP, we've also got Valentino Rossi, the greatest motorcycle racer ever AND the world's greatest sporting ambassador - Rossi has single-handedly moved the goalposts for world-level sports personas.

Lewis Hamilton is one of the world's greatest motor racing drivers like it or not, and he loves bikes and MotoGP and isn't afraid of saying so and we know the more exposure our sport gets the better.

Good luck Lewis Hamilton I hope you win all the remaining races! :upyeah:

  7. Who really cares about F1 and the pretentitious t*ts that 'compete' in it?

Moto GP is more like it for thrills and skill.

I didn't mind Schumacher, but sorry, no matter how good Hamilton is supposedly a great driver, I still can't think anything of him other that a turd that had it handed to him on a plate.

No other F1 (great) driver had that...they did it on their own, by their own skill and shi*te engineering.

  8. Fpmsl

ALL the greats had it ‘given to them on a plate’ with big family money. Except Hamilton had far less so (although not sure about mansell)

  10. F1 is hyped up to be so much better than it actually is.
It makes for very dull viewing. Much the same as Lewis Hamilton.
No manner of wins or titles I’m afraid will ever change the perception of him being anything other than up his own arse.

  12. I think Lewis is alright, in fact he seems pretty normal in a lot of situations

Plus he's a brit, and whilst people can bang on about the good old days, he can only drive what he's given and race those put in front of him, in the majority of cases he beats them time after time through skill

Schumacher was hardly a likable bloke, even Senna was fairly obsessed with winning, that's what these fellas need to do to stay at the top

As for Foggy, Cmon, great racer but seriously the bloke could be an absolute c##t during interviews or on track.

Appreciate everyone has their opinion, but I'd rather support Lewis because I'm British and from where I'm sat I can't see that he's been handed championships on a plate, the bloke can drive and that chaps is his job.

Good on him and good luck.

its just what comes from some peoples mouth i find funny in my OPINION

  14. Would you like to translate that in to English?

  15. I'm not his greatest fan but he's probably at or near to the best of the "greats" bunch IMO.
He doesn't cheat by running others off the road (Schumacher, Senna, argueably Vettel).
Not in the same league for being a crybaby/throwing toys out of the pram when things don't go so well as the likes of Alonso/Vettel. - (Ugh! - remember Vettel screaming "He brake tested me" in Azerbaijan when it was SV who drove into the back of LH during a re-start?).
IIRC, he allowed his team mate to pass and sportingly gave up three(?) points earlier this year because he said he would to the team so he's a man of his word.
So, forgetting his personal stuff like hair styles, music taste, jewelery, god squadery etc.......he's alright.

I'd love to have seen him "take the knee" in the US when they played the anthem though!

  16. I was with you all the way until you got to the 'take the knee' bit, are some kinda Black Power nut or something or just a bit of an anarchist?

  17. It would have spiced things up nicely. ;)

  19. What a rotter that Vettel, seems like he learned quite a few things from Schumacher...

  20. Hats off to him, well done champ :punch:

Now all we need is Marquez to get an engine failure and Dovi to win :fist:
