Lidl! Cheap tops and trousers

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by MrAliT, Feb 25, 2014.

  1. ^^ If they are compression items they really are quite tight so the extra give might be welcomed. The compression suits is a lot tighter than just a plain undersuit. It's worth checking.

If you are looking for cheap base layer and thermal tops check this link.

Sports Direct tops from £3.49 http://www.sportsdirect.com/mens/mens-base-layer

I bought some walking shoes from them that are like hybrid trainers for £17 after Christmas reduced from nearly £60, they seem to have eternal sales on!

  2. Ha - no, more the fact i work in the city and there isn' t one for miles :)
    I thought it was Lidl?

  3. I bought some windproof cycling stuff from Aldi years ago. Jacket was £7 and bleeding awesome. I'm finding more and more people instead of looking down on you for buying at these places, actually give a knowing little smile like you're in some sort of secret club. It's great. I'd be more embarrassed telling my mates I've just spent £20 on a sandwich from Harrods than £20 for 3 days shopping at Aldi/Lidl. Or saying I've bought a Dainese suit as I think it's great value for money. lol

  4. Well just bought one. Erm my belly looks huge in that but besides that they feel comfy and funny enough feel quite cool in them. Just need to remember to always!!!! have a t-shirt on top.

Uh BTW XL that I normally buy (46) is rather tight but it will wear in.

  5. I bought mediums. If they're anything like the ones I bought last year I'll look like a Cumberland sausage in a chipolata skin but they are great under leathers.....especially trousers.

  6. Can yer put yer Y fronts on over top o these?

  7. I've got Lidl cordura kit (never tested it by crashing, but it seems fine for town - waterproof, but not breathable - don't bump start an 888 in them, DAMHIK), aldi bike jeans, aldi and lidl running kit (good stuff), various tools, and even a coat and some shoes.
The only let-downs I have had is the jigsaw isn't straight, so the (frikkin') laser beam is no use, the pillar-drill stand cracked and I'm not convinced on the endoscope. I'd never buy a lid from them though, as they leave the stuff on open shelves and I've seen a broken pseudo-Crueset pot there. If the customers can break that...

Don't forget, they are German, so anything they sell has to be German-compliant.

  8. Aldi sell a lot of Workzone branded tools and some are good and some are pretty diabolic. I got a nice ratchet spanner set from Aldi but it has yet to be tested with a vengence.

  9. Got mine an hour ago..........

    Hell, they are tight......

....Maybe I should have got the Large for my chest size, but I had to opt for the Medium otherwise the arms would be miles too long.........still, it really shows of my physique well, so I don't care.

,,,,As for the trousers, again, the Large would have been too big, so I have the Medium...even so, they are tight and I reckon the waist to crutch measurement is on the short side.........I guess I will be forever hauling them up after bending forward on the bike. TF there isn't a Small available.

Got the socks as well...........Haven't tried them on yet...........they're socks FFS.

Anyway, value for money? - Possibly. I note they seem to be imported from China (where else?) which is why the sizes are a bit funny (or I am).

Will they perform like the cr*p on the box says? Who knows.........I'll find out when a decent day's riding turns up.

However, I doubt they will be permitted for track use........unless the Regs have changed, it isn't an approved material.

  14. I've just thought of a use for those key guards

  15. To hide your eyes?

  16. At least the pants are tight enough to keep my Protek box in place instead of ending up under the armpit....

  17. It's lucky the pants don't have C & A on them.............

  18. from past experience got XXL in both but yet to check fit. thanks for the tip-off Mr :)

Both fit fine - just for reference I am 38" waist/ 43" chest. They do seem well made so possibly good value but time will tell - even tempted to get a spare set.
