Is the bike stuff only sold on the day of the offer ( Sunday 9th March) , or do they sell the stuff until they run out? I didn't realize you could get special bike socks, I would like some of those.
The socks will probably last a bit longer than some of the other stuff, my local Aldi tends to over stock and often has stuff on sale for weeks after the event. After a time they just reduce everything to try and clear it. Dickies work socks have been on sale for a couple of weeks where I am and they seem to have tons of them, they might be a good alternative but the bike socks are well worth the money.
While some of the gear is average some is debrabded good stuff like in Aldi neck tubes are oxford windstoppers tubes same for those under-garments (not compression stuff). They are about half the price of branded stuff (with next tubes even bit less). Now regarding socks so how motorcycle socks are differnect to "normal" socks?
The socks have strengthened and padded areas in the same place as the boots are strengthened like the ankle and toes etc. I am not sure what the "new" Aldi ones are like but the last set from there were well worth it. I know the socks have gone up by £0.30p so I assume they are a different make. I have just bought the base layer top and pants for under £20 manufactured by Crane, whoever they are, they seem good, couldn't resist, I only went in there for potatoes!!! On the 13/03/14 they have a compressor and air tools on special offer, £89.99 for a 2.5hp compressor which puts out 9.5cfm which is good and better than my 3hp Clarke model, plus air hose reel and some air tools including an air impact wrench and 10 sockets for £19.99. https://www.aldi.co.uk/en/specialbuys/thursday-13th-march/
Seems like Aldi thread has disappeared. Just went and got the next thing, yep Oxford products but no Oxford branding which is perfect as I love that gear from them and have full set (small wind-stoppers neck tube, big wind-stoppers neck tube, wind-stoppers top and trousers, wind-stoppers socks and under gloves). Kevlar jeans exactly what one expects in a pair of 29.99 Kevlar jeans. Anti-abrasion material on ass, hip and all the way down to knees. Knee protectors included but to small for me (got some from left over winter suit so no problem) plus they have pockets for hip protectors which I also got spare . Slightly to long but only one length, no problem as there is no Kevlar/abrasion or special stitching on the bottom half so can be "rectified" easy. Total price was 35.71 with Harribo golden bears so good buy
The Macon Villages chardonnay is fantastic value and around £3.00 a bottle cheaper than M&S, so much better than the Australian mass produced plonk
Totally agree, Aldi isnt what it used to be back in the day.. Telling sign is the carpark & the one by us is normally full of Mercs / BM's or nothing older than 2012 reg... I'd say we save at least £70 a month using that place & their steak is fantastic.... Shows that spending less doesnt always mean compromising on quality & when you try some of the leading supermarkets 'value' range you begin to see what that compromise is.. Anyways, compression top bought last night & I'd say for the ££ its brilliant.
I agree with all of the above, and I have a compression suit as well!! great value. I thought Aldi was rubbish and so did my partner and she initially frowned on me when I said I would start going to Aldi after they built a new one 5 minutes away from me, she now buys more in there than I do. I now shop once a month at Tesco's and buy what I want and can't get from Aldi and I now top up my milk, eggs, cheese etc. from Aldi during the month. It is saving me money and my shopping bill has gone down over £100, so that's a bit more to spend on the bike!!!. Their steaks were under £4 for a ribeye, and probably still are, when all the other supermarkets jumped on the bandwagon and started charging a lot more because they have become more "trendy" amongst so many people. In fact I now get better value going to Borough market in London and buying a fresh quality T bone from there for only a couple of quid more. Finally the attitude of Aldi staff is so much better than my local Tesco. I go to Tesco early in the morning when they are still filling the shelves and the look of disdain and their fairly disgruntled attitude in general if you get in their way whilst they are working is quite amazing, I have even had to complain to the branch manager about one member of staff who was rude to me at the checkout. With Aldi I find them always polite and civil and patient, decent customer service as you might expect. As they say don't knock it until you try it! This not a rant but just my take on how Aldi have improved and make an effort to bring in customers, and my local one is packed all the time and every day from the minute they are open.
I know we are going down but have a look in to 99p stores (the blue one's) if you pass by one. Sometimes htey have things there for well 99p that are sold in tesco or others for over 2GBP. For example tikka massala sauces (same brand as in tesco) for 99p not 2.38, 2x Cans of heinz tomato soup (small one) for 99p versus 1.80 in Tesco and so on. It is a hit a miss but the days you get a hit I mean same toothpaste 99p or over 2GBP, Medium size tobelrone is currently in my local one for 99p when tesco sells the small one for 79p (50% of medium one).
Hey, there's a recession on. We could turn to crime to make ends meet I suppose, but not all of us have got Andy's contacts...
Well, I got my "Basildon Bond" outfit from Aldi (the girlfriends in for a shock tomorrow night) and it looks good stuff and fits well. I got the compression outfit, slinky black leotard jobby. My only worry is if I am ever unfortunate enough to be involved in an accident and have to have my leathers cut off, "ere bert, this guys wearin a leotard" !
