That's a good effort. I'm hoping to get 6k plus out of them on my 1100s but we shall see. The supercorsa on my 848 is about ready to get swapped now. Bike is at 6k miles and this is the second set so about 3k per set. Might get a few miles more from them but they won't see another 1k I bet.
if kept in the dark, overinflated and the bike is on paddock stands - 3-4 years. If kept in sunlight, bike sat on them, normal inflation - you could see cracking on the sidewalls. Bin them if you see any cracking.
Yes this thread did get out of track but I can assure you that my SC tires are at almost 12K kms (7K miles) those are the ones that came on the bike when I bought it 2012, my riding style doesn't consist of track days or aggressive on the streets, TC is set at 4 most of the time, I don't do burn outs but I do enjoy the bike because I love riding at a normal pace! Unlike what a couple of wannabe racer twats on here that jump on me because of what I post or say...maybe they are going senile or have short man syndrome in all places so they try to bully people like me because of my bike that they don't like to what I have done to it...those are the idiots that you don't want to take any advices from! SC's are a excellent tire weather you use it for track or street, they will last you a long time but that all depends on how you ride...the choice is yours!
Sinister, I just dont see how given they ate so thin in the middle and should be thru the canvas by now, however you ride! Had a mate get 3k out of his but the last 500 were beyond slick!
Sinister - do not call me a TWAT or an IDIOT or WANNABEE. I am a cock. Advice has been given to the OP (eventually :frown and your view about riding like Miss Daisy on sedatives are worth a giggle at least. And how the fuck (quote) SC's are a excellent tire weather you use it for track or street(unquote) would you know that? Yours still have the mould release agent on them!
I don't know what to say but those are the original tires on my bike weather you choose to believe or not, I am pretty sure that if I have gotten new tires don't you think I would've posted up pics like I have done with every other part that I added? I have almost 12K kms (7K miles) on the bike now because I just did the service, I think I have about half a riding season left on them but again I don't track the bike!
CrankyPants you are an wannabe racer & a twat because you are not famous or a professional, I have never heard of you & you jump on people who do changes on their bikes...you like a factory stock bike, I don't! You ride the way you ride & I will ride the way I want but who the fuck are you to tell me how my bike should be or how I ride? I am just trying to help people with info on here then you & El Twat jump on me because of my bike you 2 should really be a little more respectful to people who do things differently maybe not to your liking but we ALL ride on 2 wheels which happens to be a Ducati brand! I am just putting my experience of how many kms (miles) that I have on my tires for the OP & you guys have nothing better to do than bash my bike...so piss off!
Sinister - you have no viable info to give. And I am famous, iv,e been in racing newspapers and on TV -Racing (not very good mind). I never said once how you should ride your bike, you said how you ride it. And as for stock bike - lol. Mine has a couple of corse bits on it (and in the motor too -note in the motor - not just sprayed on the fairing)
[h=2]How old is too old? The five year test[/h]After five years or more in service, your tyres should be thoroughly inspected at least once per year. If the need arises, follow the recommendations of the vehicle manufacturer regarding replacing the original equipment tyres. As a precaution, if the tyres have not been replaced 10 years from their date of manufacture (see how to read a tyre sidewall), Michelin recommends replacing them with new tyres. Even if they appear to be in usable condition and have not worn down to the tread wear indicator.
Good for you! I wish you all the best in your racing career but when you jump on me because of what my bike looks like or my posts from MY experience that's not cool! I don't bash anybody's bike on here...we build our bikes to our personal tastes weather you like it or not!
Wow that esculated quickly. Sinister your bike isn't going to be everyone tastes as it's a " bit "different. You've got to accept the fact that if you do something so different to the norm then you will divide opinion. It's not to my taste but it ain't my bike so as long you like it then great. however the fact that you can get 7k miles out of a set of sc tyres gives folk a prime opportunity to take the Mickey as it fits the stereotype of a poser. I'm shocked you can get that kinda mileage even riding very steady as surely the middle would wear out very quickly. They are basically a track tyre for the road and don't perform too well unless ridden hard. I don't ride everywhere at full throttle but even just pay steady corner usually scrubs off the edges pretty quickly. If you live somewhere warm too I would of thought they would wear even quicker too.
Sinister. You take life too seriously. Chill. Or don't come on here. What you do or what you say is alien to us (certainly to me) over here. You obviously like to tart your bike up and ride it "sensibly". And I understand that given where you come from and live and how they do things in the US and Canada (and I know how they drive and ride as I go there regularly for work and visit family spread all over Canada regularly). However in our minds you are not riding the bike in the manner it was meant. You have your opinion and I have mine. I have never called you a name so DO NOT call me names again. Let's leave it at that eh?
To be fair to El Toro, he talks like that with everyone. His additions to the jokes page are usually pretty good and he regularly has something worthwhile to say. Just expect a ribbing on every other subject This is some forum on the internet. It's not real life, it doesn't affect your family or your work or your bank balance, so relax my man. I can't ride a bike for shit either so my tyres last ages too
Fair enough, I am a chill guy & I don't escalade the fact on topics on here and I have never bashed anyone's bike weather I like it or not, I put a couple of Rizoma parts on the bike & I get ripped for it lol! I don't care for the way some people come across on here but this thread was about tire wear not my bike...all I had to say was that I got 12K kms out of my tires and they are still going...so what if there is some some rubber on the ends & to be fair look at El T's tires on the 470Four thread they look like mine, no wear on the ends but I am the one who gets called a poser, a tart because I did something different on my bike...is that really fair? I try to help out on some threads & I get ripped for what? Because my bike has bits of gold on there? Which has nothing to do with the topic on hand, I am done here!
Correct. However that pic was taken the day after I bought the bike. The tyres are no longer in that condition and I am on to my second pair after 4000 miles of "brisk" riding. And they too are no longer in that condition after 1000 miles.
It would be a shame if you didn't stick around. It's a nice place to be. It's much better than Ducati.ms by a long way, where it seems to be nothing but abuse and guys who know nothing about bikes, talking about nothing. The thing with Rizoma, it's a bit of an 'in' joke here. They are often referred to as jokey parts, not because they are, but because that is how they are perceived by the particular users of this forum. You and your bike are both very welcome, your tyre life is astounding and you have been given some pretty good advice about what tyres to try next, not out of spite but out of a genuine willingness to help. British people just happen to ridicule at the same time. Here's a picture of my chicken-strips, which are also massive and I doubt I will ever attempt to get my knee down on the road. On the track though, especially on someone else's bike, I'm more than happy to try
Actually, ask yourself ET if he went after you the way you go after him, would you be as chilled?! Cranker would, coz he just loves it and is a cock ;-)
