this is all news to me , so are you saying i can fit gsx600 clutch plates in my 900ss if so i will give it a go as it is only a weekend bike and i dont do the miles that i do on the 999 and that clutch cost hell of a lot more
Does anybody know if the Suzuki plates will fit my '93 750ss. It has a wet clutch so the material should be compatible but are they the same type of fitting?
gs650 suzuki plates, see link above, now at 28 pounds, i believe they where first tried on a 900ss as per first post, ta kev
Hi all, Well what a blast!! I have just done this mod and I cannot get the grin off of my face! Absolutley fantastic!!! also I have just changed the front sprocket to a 14 tooth and the rear to a 40 tooth plus new chain, this has improved the whole set up. Thanks guy's for the advice! even if I have to replace the plates in 3 or 4 years its still a bargain! Cheers Philb
Quite so. For that price I'd certainly be happy to replace them a couple of times a year. I'll find out what they're like under load once I've got the bike through it's MOT next week and start putting some fast miles down, but the short spin I've had with the new clutch so far seems to show it to be less grabby and a hell of a lot quieter.
Very interesting post, the ducati forums certainly produce some gems...... big service due this year so money saving tips such as this all help the pot fill faster. Cheers Guys
So nobody knows if they fit a wet clutch? Looks like I'm at the mercy of the dealers if that's the case. Pity 'cos I need to replace them before I can use it in anger this month.
Hi been out on the Scarlet thunderbus today (900SS) suzook plates still fine and dandy Noddy will post the plate tomorrow SteveB
Well I've had problems, but I'm not sure where the blame lies. 5 mile run on the bike revealed a fabulously smooth clutch, made the bike feel brand new. But halfway home the clutch refused to work at all; same lever pressure as before, so I don't think it's anything to do with the slave cylinder, but the plates weren't disengaging at all. Ended up having to trailer the bike home. But I've had the clutch apart and can't find the problem at all. All the plates are fine, no signs of sticking, and the clutch is working fine again now, despite me doing nothing. It seems like the problem only reared it's head once the bike was hot. If the fluid needed bleeding surely I'd notice that, wouldn't I? Other than that I can't think of a reason. Any ideas?
My findings; Ok when cold, been perfect the last few weeks. Took her out today in the warmer weather and all kinds of probs.... Changed back to oem. :frown: Oh well... All part of the R&D fund.
I already bought a set of the little fighters, they are staring at me from across the kitchen table...they are *daring* me to fit them.
fig, when i fitted mine they where a bit tight sliding up and down the basket ( new after market basket), so filed them down a tad, also left out, 1 x steel, 1 x friction, as clutch wouldnt engage, put this down to the suzuki plates are thicker, also fitted new aftermarket clutch slave cyclinder and bleed, dont know if this is any help, kev
