Copy and pasted from another site,i can only go on what i read,i am changing my chain and sprocket soon so i will weigh them myself then. Having removed the rear wheel to change a tyre I could not believe the weight of the wheel. I had a Kawasaki ZX10r wheel for comparison and found the 899 wheel weighed a full 3kgs heavier. Ducati wheel weighed 9kg ZX10r wheel weighed 6kg. This is extremely disappointing for a quality sports bike and goes some way to explaining why the bike is so heavy.
Ar not 9kg difference. Bit both seem heavy, wonder if they had tyres fitted and same tyres? Even old heavy brembos seem about 13lbs so what 6kgs??
Id weigh the bare wheels myself as more reliable than those figures for sure. You can always go on to weigh different disks, carriers tyres etc etc to see whats best. According to the above figures Dymag carbon rear wheel weighs 13lb with cush drives /carrier etc ie exactly same as 3 spoke brembo lmfao.Dont see how they come up with that if you have held a brembo 3 spoke in one hand and a carbon dymag in the other. Also 996 ,999 , 1098 and 1199 use different carrier kit.Never mind other bike manufacturers. I weighed my rear wheel (just the wheel) and this is what the scales show.I think this is the best way as bradders said even the tyres you use will effect the results and im using renthal carrier kit which is less weight than standard.
Not sure how accurate those figures are on Ducati.ms. My 3 spoke Brembos with tyres and discs if appropriate weighed Front- 12.75kg and rear - 12kg. The 5 spoke Marchesinis weighed in at Front - 12kg and rear - 11.75kg. I know the front discs weigh about 1.5kg each. All weighed by me with the same Pirelli Rosso Corsas on each wheel.
