Those cans look bl**dy long! Something doesn't look quite right there. Mine are only 450mm........Here's a much earlier one of mine before I changed to carbon cans.... Are your link pipes high level or the OEM level? They look like the low level ones to me. You can see a witness mark where the strap should be on your cans. I think I would be 'inclined' to get your link pipes shortened if they will still allow the clearance to the swingarm.........you should still be able to get the clearance by turning the link pipes outwards. AL
There 500mm cans. They are level with the number plate, it looks longer on the photo. Link pipes are low level, don't think I can shorten them as the cans will hit the swing arm. I quite like it like that, sounds good and seems to run better. I'm sure the tappets need doing, will get made in Italy to do them soon. I haven't sealed them on yet as was thinking about making some hangers up so they support higher up the can.
the high levels look nice,i have boss low levels on mine but i might make some high levels time permiting...wot are your headers coated with??
Sperex.........Hycote was cr*p............ My headers have had a hammering and don't polish up well (or a least I can't be arsed to spend so long on them)..........it's so easy to whip them off, rub them down, spray them, heat them up with a blowlamp and re-fit them....... .............or give them a quick blast if a drop of horsesh*t stains them....
I was thinking about making some hangers out of a set of ie rear foot rest, they seem longer, but not sure if the hole spacing would be the same, has anyone fitted them on there carby??
I guess you really need to borrow a pair of IE hangers to find out......As far as I am aware the frame hole spacings are the same as the carbed version, and as you are using a strap, the actual can mounting hole should be OK 'wherever', but the IE ones always look longer......... ......the question is, is it because they rake back more or do the hang down more? My gut feeling is they will do the job. AL
So had a brain wave yesterday and swapped the rear foot pegs round, solves the hangers being too low but looks a bit silly with the foot rests on pointing forward. So if anyone has a spare set of rear hangers, don't need the rest, going cheap then please let me know. I can mod them not to look silly, and not rear rest means no wife on the back
