Just to be clear then. If I run one cable from the + terminal on the battery down to the solenoid, and then from the solenoid to the starter motor, I should see a result. Got to say I did not think the cable was that thin on my ss ie. In fact I think it is about as thick as the halfords cable.
I wouldn't use anything less than this if I decide to upgrade the cables.....322/0.30, 25mm2, 10mm, 170A Battery Cable - Flexible or Battery Cable - Semi-Rigid But also do the earth straps.........Frame to engine (Right hand side near the footpeg mount to the crankcase/gearbox) and Battery Negative to frame (left hand side rear airbox mounting lug). Use black lead obviously or: Earthing Braid
