Congratulations. If I get issues, I get issues. It’s a gamble, but life is short and must be lived. If any of you are in Kent let me know, I’d be up for a ride (when it arrives).
One thing to chase up. A small number of forum members, one relatively recently, have had failures of one of the bolts supporting the rear shock causing the rear subframe to partially collapse. It was the subject of a recall for certain bikes (possibly around 2012 / 2013) although certain bikes failed failing out of the recall numbers / build dates. It’ll be worth getting the VIN and checking personally with the Ducati dealership.

Perhaps check with a Ducati dealership re it’s recall status and have them fit the latest applicable bolts from later models for peace of mind?
Congrats pal. Enjoy!! Ask them if they'll chuck in a set of engine head heat covers too? These were added to the 2013 onwards bikes, I think to help with the heat issues!
the base model wil be fine for wot ur going to use the bike for, I had the s model which is just easer to ajust suspension for track days etc ,& as ur only going to use it on the road u wont tell any diffferance base model & the s suspension , but the power on the 1199 is much higher then the 1299 which is more low down & middle power so I think the 1299 is a better road bike
Picked the bike up today. Holy shit! Amazing. Not as tidy as I was hoping, some marks to sort out, but as it’s a lifetime ownership bike I have time to do it. Don’t know why people complain about surging, it was fine. Bloody hot though. Loud, uncomfortable, drinks fuel - love it.
Here’s a tip.... Take the tank off. Turn it over. See the white connector screwed into the bottom of the tank? It has the fuel pipe connected to it. Change that shitty white plastic connector for a metal one (available from JHP Ducati Coventry) Why? Because they shear in two after a life of heat and vibration and piss fuel all over your throttle position sensor which is just below it. What a truly crap piece of design - sorry, Ducati character. Luckily I had just apexed a slow corner at Jerez and no-one was behind me when the bike cut out. If it had done the same on the start/finish with riders around me I wouldn’t be writing this. Other than that, I love my 1199.....
