Man Cave Is Go!

  1. Had a floating frame made up to accommodate this pressed metal sign. Made it's mounting to the wall that much easier.

  2. After many years, I have finally found a fitting place for my aged NewRay 1/6 scale model, I bought in Italy and which is now 17 years old and becoming ever more collectable, as are the Minichamps 1/6 models. Speaking of which, I recently managed to aquire a very rare 998R 1/6 scale example in extremely good condition. These are getting harder and harder to find and some command silly money. It will sit next to the Desmosedici GP bike in due course, as it arrives while I am away so I will just have to be patient. I also mounted the wooden Mugello circuit silhouette. A Xmas present from my son. Dead chuffed with it.

I'm after a Bayliss 1/6 998 Minichamps example but they are almost impossible to find. There is an immacualte John Reynolds 1/6 Minichamps model for sale on Fleabay but it's crazy expensive. I might be tempted by the new forthcoming Pocher 1299 Final edition 1/4 scale model and make that the centre piece. Decisions, decisions.

  3. Super stoked to have found one of these very rare boxed Minichamps 1/6 scale models to join my Capirossi model in the garage. I'm after a Bayliss version but they fetch over £400 (if you can actually find one). I'll take some pics of it in situ tomorrow. I'll keep the box in a safe place as that will retain some of its future value.

  4. Out the box, the model was very dusty, though the previous owner did advise me it was. Due to its age I didn't want to use any fluids on it, so used a very small clean soft paint brush and a small can of compressed air to clean it, then wiped it down with a damp cloth. Think it came up a treat.

  5. Have you got a pic with it next to a coke can or similar to give it some scale? It looks quite big in some pics?

  6. Finally in the garage....

  7. It's about 30cm in length and around 15cm tall

  8. Thats a step or two up from the usual ones - nice!

  9. Finished wiring up the LED lighting for the glass cabinet. Bit of time spent working out the best routeing of all the necessary cabling, so that it was as less visible as possible, for example using white tie wraps and cable clips. There were four LED strips to fit in total. Each is sealed inside an aluminium housing with an opaque lens cover to diffuse the light. Overall about three hours to fit it. Had to shorten, solder and heatshrink the mains adaptor cable, as it was ridiculously long and I hate messy wiring. It is an RGB system, so infinite colour choices, brightness levels etc. Also responds to music, by changing colours in time with the track, or you can select from a number of presets, fade, flash, dim etc. WiFi & Bluetooth enabled, so hooks in with Google Home Assistant, Alexa and IFTT for remote control, even when away from home. I appreciate it is totally OTT but for a relatively inexpensive piece of kit (seeing as it actually came with six strips) why not! Just need to find another helmet for the bottom shelf now.

    Here's the internal wiring completed

Time to switch it on and see how it looks

in "Ambient mode", neatly pretending to be artwork on the wall, but is in fact.........

I also treated myself to a pair of these wall mounted remote holders

Artwork changes or can be set to an individual image

Along with the newly installed beer fridge, I am almost set.

  11. Just for shits and giggles, if I was visiting, I’d put those remotes upside down in opposite holders :imp::imp:

    Joking aside, looks stunning :):upyeah:

  14. A new edition to the stable arrived today. 1/6 scale - Maisto World Cycle Series Tricolore Desmosedici. These are rocketing in price of late, so thought I would snatch one before they start fetching silly money.

  15. Decided I needed a way of hiding the plethora of products such as oils, grease tubs, coolant, degreaser, polish, waxes, cloths and other sundries, that cluttered the shelf in the garage. Bought some storage boxes that were an exact match for the depth and height available and this is the end result. I might invest in a proper wall cabinet in the future, but this is an adequate solution for now.

  18. I know where all my tools are. Theyre usually on the floor congregated around where I was last kneeling/lying/crouching.

  19. Fantastic build Topolino :upyeah:

Would you mind sending me details of the Wi-fi card you used in the garage door controllers ? I have the same controller on my SWS door and I've been thinking about making it 'Smart'
