Manx Grand Prix

Discussion in 'Racing & Bike Sport' started by H2pots, Aug 23, 2022.

  1. Interesting early TonTen. Ally head on a dynamo motor.

  2. The second spark plug through the cam belt cover gives it away.

  3. For a first time to have two Desmoquatro bikes finish, let alone in the top 1/3 of the starters was more than I could have wished for.
Huge learning curve nevertheless so we will be looking at a bigger presence and even better results next year.

  4. Is the swinger on the 851 a modified standard arm or an after market item?

  5. It’s a custom built long arm, we sell them for £750-£900 depending on whether it’s braced or not.

  6. Wasn't the "Corsa" spec a bit longer?

  7. Yes and it is on the 888 I ran at this years Manx.
We make them to any length.
When I say we, I bought the aluminium profile to match the original arms and my friend Gary at Metmachex swinging arms welds them together.

  8. Friday night, the rain has arrived after another nice day. Not looking forward to a wet ride home on Sunday.

  9. That 888 sounded mega

  11. Great racing, great weather and some amazing old bikes and folks. Like the guy I was talking to when looking at a mint (recent import) GSX1100 like I used to have, who said "I've got EIGHT of them"!
We came home a day early to dodge the poor forecast and had a fine and dry ride with temperatures over 20C all the way.
Only downside was the Mrs hurt her elbow last week on the ride over, so she was on foot for the first 3 days and I've been ill for the last three days, but home and ok.

  13. Weather is a bit shit………Think we will be lucky to see racing today

  14. Lots of hanging around the paddock listening to endless updates pushing the races later and later.
Here’s some pics to make up for it.

  15. Just caught up with this thread. We were over for a week (Wednesday to Wednesday).

Weather made it tricky this year. Monday was a very long day at barregarrow, delay after delay. Races eventually ran, laps reduced by one each.

Even though it was a long day, once the racing kicks off, you forget the waiting and enjoy it. It's all part of the iom experience, I've spent many a manx hour sat staring into nothing waiting for the delay to end.

I'll be back at the TT and the manx next year.
