Discussion in 'Racing & Bike Sport' started by bradders, Jul 13, 2023.

  1. This I read on FB post earlier that the Ducati is now 1000 revs under the road bike and kwak a 1100 over

  2. but a team can buy a zx10 and start building a superbike from it with £20k and it’s £40k to do it with a Ducati so that’s their point

  3. So Kawasaki et all have the perfect excuse not to bother developing their bikes?
It’s elite motorsport supposedly. Frankly I think it’s turning into a farce. And I’m not a massive, one eyed Ducati fan.

  4. but do we want every superbike we can go buy to be £40k…. People don’t buy them at £20k… and every-me says ‘well Ducati sell sportsbikes’ but their sales charts include all the variants of Panigale as a single bike model. I think across all categories of racing it just needs to be accepted that v4 is the superior engine config and yam and Kwai etc need to just build them or go home , look how quickly aprilia dominated with biaggi on the aprilia rsv4

  5. I agree with that. They need to stop pissing around and invest in a new v4. But they could make a homologation job to keep prices affordable for us normal people.

  6. When you are spending £200k to build a WSBK 20 grand means nothing

  7. I do think sbk has gone too far away from standard bike now.

If you look at most of them, they have barely any, if any common parts now with the machine that you can buy from a dealership.

basically a prototype championship in itself.

I don’t think there’s any doubt that in superbike form, the ducatis are the bike to be on. Same to be said in moto gp.

superstock classes are now the fireblade cup as well
