  1. I had a dog once.

  2. What was her name?

  3. I dont want to talk about it, it's too painful...

  4. It wasn't Ken Dodd's dad's dog was it?

  5. No, I just hadnt had enough time to make one up yet.

Dave. Thats it. Dave. Used to purr and chase mice all day long.

  6. Works for me.

  7. I mark my own oil filters and scribe the date they were replace on so I know how long they've been there!

It's my age, you see ... OH LOOK A SQUIRREL!!!

  8. Dave is a nickname, he's real name is Rodney..

  9. I'm removed the spamming in the thread. Back to the OP topic thou, trust goes a long way when servicing the bike. I only let two people work on my bike and one of them is me and Im very much the weak link there

  10. I work in a jet engine overhaul workshop and occasionaly we send engines to america to be 1st or 2nd Hot section inspection each time when they come back we find very obvious faults which we have to correct...thats just what we can see on the outside.

We complained and they say we are messing with the engines....now they put all this dayglo anti tamper paint on so they know if we mess with it ...so the last engiune came in and low and behold pipes fitted totally in the wrong place so we took pictures with anti tamper paint in place....boy do these americans make us look good, bunch of amateurs with peoples lives at risk.

  11. I was always worried that my garage was replacing parts that didn't need doing. But at one point I had a horrible noise coming from the back end, he thought it was the bearings but it turned out a magnet had stuck to the chain and was now spinning on the front sprocket. They didn't charge me for finding that but never really under stood how a magnet got from the floor to the chain, past the chain guard and to the front sprocket, just after they'd replaced the front sprocket.

  12. the one and only time i got a bike serviced was my first bike back in 1977 it was a honda CD175 i got charged for oil plugs and chain ajustment,
on the way to work next day on my trusty steed the rear rack that held my top box fell off, as it was mounted on the top shock mounts and on the rear spindle to ajust the chain
they had to lossen the rear spindle nut and the top shock mounts and did not bother doing them up after they finished ,
then i noticed that the plugs had not been changed as they were a little rusty around the base .
I went back to the bike shop to complian but got told i was a silly boy and i was very mistaken .thats why i have my own workshop and do all my servicing and the only time my bike goes to the bike shop is for its MOT

  13. the biggest mistake off all is to not admit you make any.
i make just as many as yourselves but to charge or not to refund pure stupidity.

  14. so true if i make a mistake ,i learn from it and don't do it again , but if i have to pay sombody to do a job that i can not do myself i expect it to be done right .

  15. absolutely. no excuses, never charge and put it right.

  16. Ive only had one un-satisfactory service on my Duck. By a Ducati company very near me. Needless to say I only ever used them that once. They are 2 mins from my home. Yet I travel 60 miles to WM Snell. I like em. They even call me Sir. 10/10 for all my dealings with them so far and no I am not getting a freebie or sleeping with the mechanic. He's bald and falls asleep straight after anyway or so I am told. Ahem.

I dont need to mark my stuff. On my 916 I can identify each nut and bolt. I know if something has not been done. On my 1198 things arent quite so clear. But you must give trust, else you be treated as you treat them. If that trust is broken, fine. Until then good faith is a much better position.

  17. p.s. charging for work that wasn't done isn't a mastake its bordering on criminal at best.

  19. Can we ask roughly where you live then, curiosity?

  20. No that would be unfair. :) They may have had a bad day, a one off. I took my bike to Snells thereafter so I haven't had the opportunity to see if that was the case as Snells have been good each time.
