  2. In a nut shell. :upyeah:

We are lucky to be witnessing a genuine genius at work and should just sit back and enjoy him. The scary thing is, given his age, if you can compare him to all that have gone before, he's not even at the peak of his bell curve for a professional sportsman. In another 3 - 4 years the level he could be at if he stays injury free, is frightening.

I can't see anybody on the horizon that can touch him. Zarco is already 2 years older and is yet to win a top class race. Viñales isn't close to touching him. Miller? Rins? Dovi? Lorenzo? Rossi? Nobody. Dovi may push him this year, but I don't think anybody would say he has the same level of talent.

Who realistically is looking like they could make the jump to MotoGP and do what he does? Again, I don't see a single contender.

If your idea of boring racing is seeing someone streets ahead of the opposition, then you may be in for a boring few years. Me? I prefer to watch in awe at the talent of the young man, as it may be a long while till we see his like again.

He may have had a brain fart a few weeks ago, but he seems like a genuinely decent lad the majority of the time imo.

  3. I. like many others, will simply stop watching. WSBK was o the edge of that until start this season, and is at risk of going that way again now Rae has his mojo.

  4. Nobody could deny his talent, but when we spend the money we do to go and watch this sport, we go to see racing, and I think everyone is on the same page to say that racing is far more a spectator sport if it's close and has some degree of competitiveness about it. If you would go to pay and see one guy riding around cause he's quite a talent, then crack on, but if your prediction comes to fruition, then sadly I lose interest also. The year whereby he won the first 10 races, I like a quite a few just greyed over at each race. It's a race Rob, and thats what I pay to see. His talent is undeniable, but as a spectator sport, COTA was shit, and I truly hope the fun recommences at Jerez ??

  5. In the words of the estimable Mick Doohan. What do you want him to do? Go slower? What would you do in his boots? Drop back closer to the rest? Marquez's crime seems to be that he's not Valentino Rossi. Nobody moaned when he won 9 championships, in fact, they started fondling their chubbies and calling him the GOAT.

If I watch Ronaldo taking the mick in a football match, I admire the skills.

When I see Ronnie O'Sullivan playing left handed and beating his opponent. I laugh at the commentators who think it's disrespectful. Touch luck. His opponents should get better.

When I see Usain Bolt watching the screen during a race and celebrating with 20 metres to go, I'm in awe.

Mike Tyson? Roger Federer? Muhammed Ali? Pele? Tiger Woods? Michael Phelps? Carl Lewis? Steve Redgrave? Ayrton Senna? Johnan Cryuff? Martina Navratilova? You could say they were all boring given the criterion of being so much better than their opponents. I look at it differently.

If Marquez's talent forces you to watch lesser riders in an inferior series, then that's your choice.

  6. I think Texas somewhat clouds this whole conversation, it's a crap track performance wise for everyone other than Marquez, but I'm sure even he thinks it's crap as a spectacle

Put them all out on a track with far less 1st gear corners and Marquez isn't gauranteed to win in the same manner, which is why I love motogp.

It's normally some of the closest racing we get to see with great overtaking.

  7. One race doesn’t make the season. COTA was undeniably void of what we are used to seeing in Moto GP, but thankfully most of the other tracks will make up for it.
What we love about the sport is it’s unpredictable nature ,and I think that will continue. Márquez is an unbelievable talent, but not incapable of mistakes. Roll on Jerez

  8. Marquez job is to win. As good as he is, no one gets lapped any more. The depth is such that racing mid pack is better, but it’s rarely seen.

  9. I think chalk COTA up to just a crap track on the calendar and move on. Argentina was good and Qatar wasn't bad considering it's also not exactly a quality overtaking track. Let's see what happens now they are in Europe. One thing is for sure, Yamaha and Ducati need to up their game massively, they had last year while Honda were struggling with all but Marc to make the step and Ducati did to some extent but they need to find some time and in Ducati's case they need to find one more rider who is actually motivated.

  10. I just hope he's reached the peak of his bellend curve. What I like about Marquez is that Colin Edwards would love to call him a twat on live telly.

I'd go, "Aggh! These fooking boots are too bloody small for me, you dainty-footed spanner."

  14. I thought it was almost like a p*ss take at COTA. Marquez's rides the last couple years (which one did he do that crazy pit run to qualify first?) were epic to watch and this year he just said if people dont like him going crazy then he'll just beat everyone in a boring way. I dont understand why more people are not talking about the fact he will still push 100% even when he has the whole championship at stake like in last years finals? That blows my mind. Completely agree that we want to see racing and not a one man race but I certainly do not want to see that at the expense of MM going easy just to play safe and give the others a chance!
