Is track day insurance that important and do you know of anyone who has tried to claim off MCE for track day damage ? Did you try BeMoto ? Andy
Hi, no not at all - I'd be claiming every other track day! Was just 'amazed' that it was included with a super-cheap policy! I didn't I'll check em out now - cheers!
I just tried Motorcycle Direct: £15500 Ducati 1098R = £328 Or swapping the quote to my R1 £3000 Yamaha R1 = £328 :Bucktooth:
Same details with Ducati Insurance for the 1098R = £183 will call them tomorrow to add the R1 to the quote
OK cheers mate, I'll try them fkrs in the morning along with the list of other fkrs to call tomorrow. Gotta say though, whilst I completely agree re internet reviews etc, there really are some shocking reports of MCE - really feel for some of those poor bastards who've had to claim. Shit DOES fkn happen unfortunately and the last thing you need when shit has happened is more shit from a supplier (insurance in this case). Blah blah blah. Thanks
What exactly do you get with the trackday cover? Does the excess rocket? Is it riddled with exclusions?
Also a few have commented with MCE if they rebuild your bike they have been known to do it with 2nd hand parts.
Really I want insurance to be able to ride legally on the road, get *some* money back when some scumbag decides to nick it, and/or some really bad accident happens.
I'm pretty sure the excess for track day insurance is 50% of the bikes value. So if you bin a 16k panigale you have to pay £8k excess. So if you crash make sure you write it off - oh and have £8k! Not worth the paper it's written on really!
Thanks for the detail! Yeah I gotta say the idea of track day insurance was "wow" not that I asked any details about it. I've never bothered with track insurance other than that repatriation stuff. If I ain't dead I'll try and fix the fkr!
Yeah I thought it sounded great too, it was only when the woman from MCE explained in detail i realised it was just a gimmick. MCE is a cheap insurer if you're still building up a no claims bonus or your bike is modified and you need to be 'legal' for the road. Although they will insure all the extras on your bike, if you have an accident etc and claim they will only pay to replace with standard parts. So if your Termis get mangled they won't pay for a new set just a set of standard cans. I was with MCE for 3 years due to the above reasons. Luckily I never claimed. My experience of them wasn't good. The admin is terrible, they don't email or send your documents. Took 3 phone calls and nearly 2 hours on the phone to get them, then they were wrong and couldn't get them to correct it without more phone calls, been transferred, put on hold for ever then the revised documents never came through so yet more phone calls. They even got my no claims wrong and tried to do me out of year. This wasn't just a one off but every year. I'm with Ducati insurance now. They're like a breath of fresh air to deal with by comparison.
Yourself and birdie got off lightly!!! I had such a bad experience with them that I can hardly watch BSB . If possible stay well clear of them. The problems really start if you claim, so many of you with no claims will not experience what lies ahead!! You mention MCE to respectable brokers etc and see what the reaction is.
Ducati Insurance: 1098R & R1 just paid £253.00 but I am old (5 years younger than El T but still old) :Oldman:
Best keep a box of matches in your leathers just in case you do less than £8k's worth of damage and need to up the level of carnage trackside.
And my Ducati Insurance is with LV who have a very good reputation with Car Insurance The Ducati Insurance Broker is called Ramasis.
Couldn't agree more, well said. It pains me whenever I go to BSB (and I go to quite a few) and see their name plastered all over the place, herrumph. Needles to say, I had a very bad experience with them following a (complete non-fault) claim. I would NEVER go near them again.
