V4 Mcn Review

  2. By increasing weight again with 22 litres of fuel when filled. Hmm. My GS is 20litre. 150 to 200 mile range, depending on “use”.
    I am sure it is a very competent motorcycle and...erm...erm. Yes. Thats it.

    But they seem to have sanitised a daring 2010 design year on year with plastic and bulk, and increased weight yet again. 1kilo weight loss in the engine was a huge laugh. Now comes with 20 kilos more pipe plumbing and shite. It goes even more head to head with the big KTM now.

    The 1290 GT is in a class of one as they no longer compare.

  3. Some lovely tech, as usual, but I'd be amazed if a regular Multi didn't get realised fairly early on 2021
     
  4. 220kg vs. 260kg (fully loaded with luggage) is a huge difference in mud...also engine centrifugal forces.
    My choice for road and off road for a long touring around the would be a KTM 690adventure or a Suzuki drz400.
     
  5. I had a 1200 Enduro for touring which was just awesome, never in my wildest dreams would I ever, or had the desire to take it off road, much too heavy and big... Why would you ??? As for the looks of the new V4 Multi, always subjective but doesn’t appeal to me, I will be keeping my 1260PP longer than anticipated but that’s not a problem... What a machine ❤️
     
  6. So I can ...

    A) Chop in current Multi, find approx £12k and get a new one and destroy it off-road.
    B) Keep current Multi and spend £7k on a lightly used T7 Tenere or Africa Twin and £5k on fuel and other items of pleasure.

    Tough call.

  7. Tenere 700 is holding its value very well. I can't see any for sale for less than £8k.

    just get a proper off road bike, far superior to any road biased enduro

  11. You are comparing a bike that can travel around the world and do mild off road with a barely road legal race bikel..that will need a new piston before your even out of Europe :)

  13. Yeah but admit it. All the time on this ride you were really missing not having 150+bho and about 220 kg of weight. I'm sure that when you got home, your were tempted to rush out to your nearest Ducati dealer and shell out 18k odd for a V4. Go on, admit t!

    Well done, Ducati. finally persuaded me to get a BMW - or nothing at all!

  17. No, he is comparing a bike that anyone would like to ride off-road with a bike that nobody would like to ride of-road. What is this thing about doing a European tour and going off-road? I have done many European tours on some great roads but I have never ever thought, "Oh, if only I could go down a rough track now"! Years and years ago, the gig was to have a go down the Mulsanne straight after the race at the Bol. I don't remember ever seeing people ignoring the track to take their bike off-road through the forests.

  20. All this adventure hype is pure marketing...like the ladies using a 2000kg SUV for school runs. I can cross Africa with this car, but actually only driving 3 miles to school :) :)
