Metzeler M7rr's - Not Too Impressed.

Discussion in 'Tyres' started by comfysofa, May 21, 2015.

  1. Ive got a digital one on my foot pump (Michelin pump) and one of those small pocket ones (got that from Halfords too) - sorry Royal - my mistake ( I meant 1 or 2 psi each way...)

  2. So - 31.5 front 34.5 rear then?

  3. I'd just try 32 front and rear for road riding.

  4. ok - im assuming the harder the rear is the more it's going to give out...?

  5. Yeah, it will slide more if it's too high. I really think that when you check you'll find them high. The only other explanation is that they just needed a bit more scrubbing in but it sounds like you have done that.

  6. Be interested to see the outcome of this. I had mine at 31-32 (my default for all tyres) and couldn't get it to my liking.

  7. Well, in the interests of science ill set them the same as you nothingfaced and we'll see what goes (hopefully not the rear) - but it may be a few days til I post back with those results as im in work right now with no pressure guage and when I get home I don't think ill be on it til next week...

  8. LOL.

I have amended my post to include the missing words. I meant of course a tenth of a Bar, i.e. 1.5 PSI :D

  9. I seem to remember Metzeler's recommended pressures are as tight as a drum. If you haven't specifically requested a lower pressure the fitter will have inflated them to manufacturers recommendations.
    I bet they're up around 38 or 40 psi.

  10. Ok. First and foremost, pressures were too high. From recollection 38 rear 39 front or thereabouts......dropped them to 31 front 32 rear. Definately better, way better, more confidence in the corner, still giving out but further over....not sure how much....i was in all fairness running a few errands today and was stuck in city traffic so cant test properly....but (just cutting a large slice of humble pie) as i say, way better.

  11. Different tyres (Sport smart 2s) but handling way better on my Multi with lower tyre pressures, some where around 32 front 34 rear. Always used to crank em up to recommended pressure , no more though.
Had slides on Pirelli tyres a few years back on R1, running too high a pressure would be my guess now.

  12. How's the tyres feeling now? Metz tech data book shows 2.5 bar front and 2.9 rear or 36 & 42psi, drop 3psi out of both, what happens to your symptom?

  13. Went to 31 front 32 rear.....achre's better andy, but, ive only been out on it once (in heavy traffic) but i gassed it over and around lawrence hill roundabout saturday and it felt loads better!

  16. Tyre pressures. Is there anyone who just lets the fitter set his own nowadays?! Clearly yes ;) lol

Plus you are comparing a cruddy cheap kwacker thingy susoension to aprillia superbike. They are renowed for super cheap components

  20. i just put a set of Metzler Racetec rr,s on my 2013 Panigale a couple of weeks ago ,After using Supercorsa,s since i bought the bike new, i cant fault the Racetecs at all , amazing grip and feel and very confidence inspiring , i ride mostly on the road and i wring the Duc,s neck at every given opportunity . i am very impressed with these Racetecs compared to the supercorsa,s they are every bit as good if not better, slighty different profile on the front and it feels like the bike is turning in a lot quicker than when on the SC,s . Ian Murray Ducati dealer at Straiton .Edinburgh fitted the tyres and was very interested to see what i thought of them . i gave him my opinion of them and as he stocks the Metzler M7rr,s and Pirreli SC,s my Panigale was the first one he had fitted the Racetec RR,s on
