Barely more than 1000 miles and big end failure............bet he's one unhappy guy!!! Any details, actual big ends or was it a con rod / con rod fixing bolt? 'Catastrophic' failure or caught early? Thnx
no info yet Andy, but he is rejecting bike and they are offering the d-air model as a replacement but i think if he accepts it he will have to spend over £1k for the jacket to make it worthwhile having.
Thanks...........hope he gets a good result, at least with a very decent offer on the table already he can try and negotiate
This Graham Smith again, he was on the EMM trip with me (I must do a write up!), the only issue he had on the trip was when the Mivv exhaust blew off!
Up to 27,000 miles now and saving up for its second Desmo service. Just payed for DID X-ring chain and duc sprokets so skint again. My bank account v outlay for owning a Mutley would worry the IMF; as shown as a graph :Hungry:
Envy you (on a number of levels) the ability to do that Derek......no chance of you moving to Somerset?! lol List updated: Post1
sold my 2010 with ~20k on it. so must be about 25k now with new owner. 2012 ohlins sport (regd dec 13) now has 4k5 on it. Mate just part ex'd his 2010 (base, non abs) which had coming up to 30k on it (so due a big service) for a new 2014 mts abs.
yes he is on here. You may recall I gave you his detail too, regarding your data collection excercise
Update. 30k miles...new cam guide pullies required. Plating failure. Would cause belt failure......another workshop directive coming? Watch this space. Oh no sir never heard of fork foot failures before, you must have damaged it. 12 months later ....,..following our extensive road trials we've noticed...blah blah I hope I get my money back on this as well.
What sort of cost Paul? I presume that as the belts are changed at the 30K service that'll keep the labour cost down at least - anyone know if this is a common issue with Ducati's? John........senior moment!!
I've got a 2012 Multi Pikes Peak. After the heads were replaced by Ducati right after my first Desmo service @ 16,000 miles, I've since put an additional 15,000 on it for a total of 31,000. I just got back from a 2000 mile trip through Utah (USA) - several days were in pouring rain, the bike was amazing. Loved every minute of it.
You're on our chart at position (8) Rick (Post 1) Would be good to hear of more Brit and Euro high milers ;-) ......and maybe time for some updates from those already on the chart: @Longwayhome / @AirConTechnical / @Biot / @Derek / @Veetwin Anyone know MTS1200 owner Graham Smith at No2 in the chart (I think it was a Facebook post I picked up on but can't find now)
Andy, you can update my 2013 model mileage to 23K now. Still no problems, minor issue was that I had to have a new gear selector spring fitted (rubber bands fixed it while I was away).
Mine is just over 28K at the moment and no probems. I expect to put another 500 miles or so on this weekend at the Scottish Ducati Club's Midgie Masher event in Oban
