Honestly apart from having to do the chicken dance mine are fine. Maybe I have Parkinsons and my head shakes in unison
Aren't the later/current bikes fitted with them as standard now? When I had my 848 I called Moto Rapido and bought a set for a 1098 (which had them fitted from the factory at that point) and fitted them on. IIRC they were ~£15....So considerably cheaper and better looking than the moosey Oberon ones!
Yep, they come with the newer 848 as standard I believe. As Nelson says, only about £15 from dealer for the ducati ones.
I am a little confused now. Are you saying I can purchase the ball joint type mirrors from Ducati for around £15 each?
Timberwolf, the OP was originally talking about using or not using the spacers/extenders on their Duc, these are 40/50mm pieces of plastic that fit between the original mirrors and the fairing pushing the mirror further outwoods, therefore making it slightly easier to see behind you (though may increase vibration) abmatt2002 was confirming that these come with the new 848 and, in fact, came with my 1198s as well. Respectfully, you were then asking about a different type of mirror completely, so there a couple of threads running in here.
I wish...! Nah - You can buy the extenders as fitted to the newer bikes as standard for ~£15... The part numbers are 71314601A (right), 71314611A (left) - Check the part number as I robbed them from another site. Without... With. Oberon Moose...
I don't think these extensions are fitted to my Corse model but the official ones in the second pic look fine. I'll have a look at the pics I have and maybe get them fitted for collection day. I honestly didn't find the location / size of the mirrors much worse than other bikes I've had, but the vibrations had a big effect of what you could actually see.
Thanks macca and nelson, i am not confused now! Ducati extenders or big bucks for the FAR mirrors appear the only choices. I will have to see how easy the mirrors are to take on and off if i do go for the ducati extenders as my doorway is tight. Sorry, i did not intend to hijack the thread, just seeing what options we had.
If i was not fearful of being kilt i would not be bothered shelling out on wing mirrors! Being a bigger chap I feel I am at more of a disadvantage than your average joe who may well be able to see summat in them! The irony is, my jap bike didn't need any mirror mods and those guys are usually a lot smaller than us and the Italians lol.
Dementor....let me know which side of LEDS you need and I will send out a replacement board. Moto-science has lifetime warranty on all LEDS.
I thought they seemed a good idea for my 1098s as I couldn't see anything in my mirrors. I had to pull my elbows in everytime I wanted to look behind. I fitted them and the longer span of the mirror made them vibrate so much I couldn't see anything anyway. Plus the bike looked worse. i removed them and they sit in a box in the garage somewhere.
thanks for the offer that is excellent customer service. Unfortunately I don't have the bike or mirrors any more.
just got my hands on some of the ducati extenders. fitted only 1 of them as the little shitty screws fitted to the standard ones seized up and rounded off. i managed to get the left one done and fitted but had to bring the r/h one home to drill the screw head out. just got it done and will fit it tomorrow. hopefully i'll get to try them out this wednesday. no probs if shite as it's only a 15 minute jobby to take them off again.
