Agreed, even my wife, who is only a bit interested thinks he is an amazing talent on a motorcycle. Having someone who just wants to race for the win, every race really brightens up the racing. It is part of his DNA, sh1t or bust every time
I think we saw it clearly yesterday & particularly again at the US GP where, while everyone else was moaning about the surface, Marquez just went all out again & won the race. I mean he did look like he was going to come off at every turn but didn’t!
It was going to take a miracle, i.e. 3 non scoring rounds for Fabio to lose the title, Pecco had to win them all regardless so he had no option other that to push. Didn't they say that both Jack and Pecco had chosen the hard option front, and there were some question marks if that was a good choice given the conditions? Pecco was starting to gap Marc, I'm guessing that was his downfall quite literally. Marc didn't have an answer for him and with Pol seconds behind he would have taken a 2nd place I think. Bastiani was the ride of the day for me and to get on the podium on an old bike in those conditions, I hope Ducati help him next year as it looks like he's still at the bottom of the pile in terms of equipment from Bologna. Great to see Fabio lift the title, well deserved he has ridden the wheels off the slowest bike out there, it'll be interesting to see if he can defend it next year with the development ban lifted and Marc getting back to some form of fitness/performance, let alone the rest of the field.
Yes, well done Fabio. He deserved the title and has matured this year. I think the hard front tyre choice was a mistake from Ducati, with Miller paying the early price. Next year, a fit Marquez...Morbidelli also, and what will Yamaha manage with next years bike. It has looked down on power. Bastiani, Bagnia with loads of talent too.
FQ is pretty average in sketchy conditions. Bone dry track and the sun blazing, he’s right on it. He’s therefore not the real deal. Yet… All the top, top racers are good in the wet too… Rossi, Stoner, Marquez… wet weather, bring it on. If conditions are sketchy, FQ is screwed come lights out…
I agree and disagree with that, Fabio isn't a good wet weather racer far from it, but with the conditions this weekend the Yamaha couldn't use it's only advantage being cornerspeed, they're always giving speed away on the straights and rely on barrelling into corners and gaining there. Which completely plays into Ducati's and KTM's hands. Only Morbidelli qualifying in the top 10, Fabio 15th and Rossi, Dovi at the back of the field it kind of tells you everything about the Yamaha status. They (the BT team) touched on the fact that no manufacturer develops a wet weather bike as most races are dry, so it obviously makes sense to develop a chassis for 80% of the race weekends, the last two seasons have thrown curveballs because of Covid and the substitute rounds and dates I guess. Also Pol's podium was down to temp and he has said it's only in the cooler conditions that he can find rear grip so Honda need to work on that for him, which again fits into the rounds/dates etc.
FQ will likely win in good conditions. He’s shit hot… FQ becomes AN Other rider in sketchy conditions. He’s shite.
Good to see mr Marquez is back to his normal ways , he’s a born winner , the only rider to trouble him was quatararo , he was the only one who could go with Marquez and Marquez knew it that’s why he did his arm in as he was trying too hard really and wAs desperate not to get behind so ran in that race he shouldn’t have , I rate Marquez above all as the Honda without him on is crap generally in other peoples hands
I think (or maybe hope) the game I had moved on from 2 yrs ago before Marquez bashed himself up. Plenty of new talent coming through too
MM is probably ~85% fit now. Still good enough for the top step. 2022 should be interesting. Improved Honda and fully (maybe) fit. Definitely a combination to resume normal service….
Pecco had the better of him at Aragon let's not forget. 2022 should be an epic year by all accounts, Fabio, Frankie, Pecco, Jorge, Enea, Marc, Oliveira all in with a shout of the title.
MM93 is undoubtedly on the way back. However next season I’d like to see him have a bit more competition otherwise it’ll become a snooze fest again.
He’s definitely going to have that. He’s playing catch up. But the signs were there on Sunday. His ability to go fast almost immediately. He seems to read and digest all parameters quicker than anyone else…
.....but one more high speed incident could possibly wipe him out into retirement, if he doesn't listen to his guardian angel.........or is he on a sabbatical.

That's what i'm worried about, le'ts hope he has good fortune for next season but we must have a competition with four or five other riders on the grid.
He does ride like he has just no fear. I’ve never seen anyone quite so focused on maximum points all the time. It does mean he’ll crash more than anyone else & he does, even in FP sometimes. It sure bit him hard last year, but we are privileged to be in his era & particularly following the Rossi years. Competition is necessary & I agree, I really hope we have it next year, but I still don’t see anyone on his level. I think someone else made the point about his wife watching. Try this: sit someone who has no interest in MotoGP in front of a race & tell me who they notice after the first couple of laps? Probably after the first corner most times!
He finds the limit quicker, ether that’s FP1 or when conditions change, and then stays around that. That’s a skill linked to lack of fear over crashing. Where others build, he trusts he can save it when over the limit and works from that.
