I watch a lot of this lad on YouTube. He does some really interesting stuff! If you’re going for a Golf- go large!!
This was mine when i was 18. Sold it for 3000€,that is what you pay these days for the rally light and grill. Now i have a MK6 GTI and a UP GTI. Both black as well. Henk!!!
18! I didn’t have a penny to scratch my arse with when I was 18. Luckily I got knocked off my bike requiring 30 stitches in my calf. I got £1000 compensation and then bought a battered Mini…. My first car! I didn’t spend all the money on the car. I kept some for pissing against the wall
It was 650 quid IIRC. Spent another 100 on the loudest stereo available and stuck some Halford alloys on it. Cool as fuuurk man….
Always wanted a Mk2 Golf GTI 16v since I passed my test. It had to be 3dr in oak green. Could afford one at 18 but every insurance company just laughed at me. When I turned 21 the insurance companies stopped laughing as loud and just quoted me an eye watering £1200 third party F&T, bearing in mind this was 1994!. Set off to buy one when I spotted an E30 BMW 325i Sport in red which was surprisingly considered a “family saloon” by the insurance companies. So I bought the BM instead and paid £600 fully comp for a car with 2 more cylinders and 40 extra BHP (and a very light rear end!!!). Don’t regret buying the 325Sport instead of the Golf, but regret selling it, there worth a fortune now! The Gti 16v was one of those cars that got away, but I still have a hankering for one!. Trying to find a decent original one is quite difficult these days. Good luck with your search, it’s a problem, but a nice problem!
I had 7 or 8 mk 1 GTi's including a couple of campaigns, and only 1 mk 2 GTi back in the day. Says it all about which I liked most, but I have to admit the mk 2 was a better car. These days the mk1 would need to have a turbo conversion though.
Oh yes, they certainly did!!! As you can imagine from a 21 year old with more enthusiasm than skill the backend spent more time going forwards than the front! No traction control back then, just padded undies!!
I’ve owned 6/7 325i’s. Including a 2.7 Alpina. Best engines ever in a road car that I’ve owned. Here’s a few pics.
Yup. Best handling car I ever owned/drove. Sold mine for £7k in 2004, nothing less than £70k now. Doh.
