Discussion in 'Supersport (1974-2007)' started by sim900sl, Sep 10, 2012.

  1. Well My Mk1 made its maiden voyage out tonight to the Cotswold Bikers night in Pershore , it behaved itself , big grin factor.

  2. The pics don't do it justice. I was lucky enough to see the beasty this morning, Its a top quality build with great attention to detail and everything done 'just so'.

Oh, and good to meet you Simon and thanks for the tips and advice. The list of things I want to do to mine now has increased significantly :upyeah:

  7. Ooh 9 pages thats great cant wait !

  8. Good review/feature Simon!

  9. Great Phil :) I still have yet to see it !

  10. Great feature in the mag Simon, one thing that I noticed was the reference to the small breather on the fuel tank, was this just a superlight thing? My 91 750 has the same tank but I know the fairings have been changed. Just trying to work out if the tank has been changed too. Thanks

  11. No I think the round breather was on all tanks 91-92 but I no expert on Dukes of that era

  12. I have 2 copies now and am really pleased with the article

  13. Thanks for that Simon, I'll take it to be the original. In fact I found one on eBay for sale identical to mine, first one I've seen the same in the four years I've owned mine.
    Thanks again for the help

  14. My 92 SS has a round breather also, many of the early tanks have been changed to the oblong shaped breather ( from 1993 onwards ) as they have rusted. If you're looking for an original 1992 example then you'll want the round breather..

Also looking at one of my Ian Falloon books the very early 1991 SS's ( white wheels ) look to have no breather at all !! nothing in writing to confirm this though just a picture.

Great article by the way Simon love to see it one day...

  15. Mines a white wheeler, frame number is 000448. Mine tank had rotted out, been stood for 6years before I got her. Fiberglassed it up all fine now

  16. The other thing I noticed was the fairing panels seem to differ from year to year. My right hand fairing inner edge narrows towards the clutch cover and the other side has a more square, uniform edge running all the way down, which I think is correct for the early models. I've seen models with a narrowing edge on both sides and a square edge on both sides ...... strange !

Getting a bit anal now, need to get out more !!

  17. The round breather bump was on the 91 bikes and the 92 SL, but I've seen a few 92 SS with the round bump but I guess they were just using up old stock.

  18. Looks like were hijacking Simons thread here!!??
