  1. Some aftermarket levers I had 30 years ago were some cast monkey metal but were the right price, they never snapped either.

  2. It's the same with climbing equipment. Chinese stuff is really cheap and right now I wouldn't trust it to hold up a hanging basket! Soon though they'll get it right, join in with the rigourous international testing regime and not look back.

  3. I strapped my MV OEM lever back to keep the brake on when on a trailer - it snapped as soon as I started to drive away o_O

Some of the fancy Italian rearsets are £1000 not £500.
I do wonder how many branded ones are made in the Far East and just ‘assembled’ in the EU to enable a smokescreen :eyes:

  4. Exactly that. You buy stuff you know how it works

  5. Not that my thought counts for anything, but it does amaze me that we may spend £10k, £15k, £20k or even £30k on a highly engineered machine and yet don't want to spend £500 on quality items for the bike. I agree the £500 pegs maybe manufactured in China, but what you are paying for is the selling company to do the QC for you and make sure each item is manufactured to a level fit for use.

  6. Maybe ,but i call it piece of mind ,i can't see the point in having a bike with top quality tyres ,Ohlins suspension ,Brembo's etc and then putting possibly questionable quality gear on it ,but as i have said that is only my thinking on it :)

  7. I agree with the sentiment but I have an issue paying well over the top because of a name. I bought a cheap set for my old 848 ( used plenty of loctite ) and had no issue - could not convince myself that it justified £400 more for something that didn’t particularly look any better or do any different job.
