Monster 695 Fuel Pump Woes

Discussion in 'Newbies Hangout' started by Kentgent, Oct 17, 2019.

  1. How did it go? I hope you got it sorted and back on the road.

  2. Update 27 -10 2019

Been a lazy sod, and its been raining so didn't get a chance to delve further till today. (Shame as it would have been a great day for the 'last ride of the season' had I got it fixed.

Anyway, tank drained, battery out, tank off, flange out (first mention of flange.....)
Out came the pump/flange (second.....:D) assembly for some meterage.......
Wires straight to the pump terminals and off she goes like she is meant to - so pump ok (Have a new one just in case - worth keeping as a spare).

Next.....put 12V directly on the same wires outside the flange (getting my moneys worth today flange wise ) and not a sausage. In fact if I do a continuity test between red and black wires its a direct short, which seems to indicate , with the pump working when directly energised) that the wiring harness is at fault.

Ho hum, off to order the new loom now - hopefully some sunshine next weekend .....

Can anyone tell me what this items in the picture (red arrow and blue arrow) are?

    Thanks Daves!

  3. Red arrow could be a condenser, to give the pump a kick when starting. Blue arrow, don’t have a clue.

  4. Thanks Hyper,

Figured it might be a capacitor/condensor of some sort, but buggered if I can find it listed as a spare part anywhere......still, don't know if I need it yet...so fingers crossed its ok. :D
