They should just do what we did during a sports class we didn't want to participate in - don't try. Don't run, throw the ball badly and miss every catch. Blank out what the PE teacher says as sports simply don't matter, so the poor grade is irrelevant. It's what Ghandi would do, passive resistance. Oddly, PE at school fostered a long hatred of football and rugby for me, it was only when I found sports which I enjoyed (which weren't readily practiced at school) that I found a love for sport. Being forced into sports is likely to breed a generation who will never do a moments activity when they leave school. Rather than being compulsory and focus in on rugby and football, physical activity should cover a far wider spectrum.
TT is cool. its something we used to do and enjoy before speedos turned it in to something more sinister. i miss the craic before that imbecile infiltrated the place. lets battle on the pitch not the forum. after all they are only hanky swingers. :Angelic::smileys:
Indeed. This is remarkably character building. Once the penny drops, and you realise that you can refuse to do the cross-country run, refuse to catch the rugby ball, refuse to do the tackle, it strengthens you. Some dumb-arse PE teacher tries to tell you do stuff, but you find the strength to say no first once, then twice, then a hundred times. Your self-confidence is enhanced, and your ability to make your own decisions is established. It's part of growing up. Paradoxically rugby and cross-country running turn out to have a value after all - they create an opportunity for kids to develop strength of character by refusing to do them.

shinty is the local sport around here which worries me a wee bit (for those that know the Bull is my neighbor) my wee man is as fit as a fiddle, you canny keep him in or get a jumper on him even winter, but he is a slight lad, i cant see him taking a whack to the shines or face for that matter to well, if he dont want to play he wont be playing. simples. the daughter on the other hand. same gig, canny keep her in or get her in a jumper. i don't think she will be allowed to compete in a sport with a weapon in the shape of a club. shes a bit raj. :smileys:
what you trying to say loz? :Hilarious:. i speak British. get some bilingual on yo ass. :Finger::smileys:
Does no one read the Forum Rules? People from Scotchlandshire must be referred to as "the Scottish". Sheesh!
