More University Fees Reform?

i genuinely feel your disappointment here braders i cant see how that was allowed. there must be some kind off loophole here, because it deffo is a form of racism and that is not my stance on independence.

 

I paid for my a lot of own education, apart from a very modest grant (read tiny) as I just caught the tail end and got a tiny small contribution for 2yrs. But I did get my fees paid thanks to a forward thinking Labour council. To live though I had to work and study and get student loans. I paid off my student loans because I studied Mechanical Engineering and not media studies. But theres the rub, engineering is vocational. Things like art are not, yet art is still a fundamental part of a modern society and just as valuable as engineering or science. I picked on media studies because its just a waste of time. So what if you disagree but it is. However i might be jealous as they had way more time in teh student bar than I could. I mean, a 10hr lecture week! I had a 40 hr lecture week and a 40hr self study week and i to work on a line sorting rolls and buns at night. No bank of mum and dad for me. I had to pay rent 52wks a yr.

In my view all education should be free. Regardless of what you are studying, even bloody media studies. Before my degree, i paid tiny amounts of tax and was often unemployed and working in the black economy so to speak. Since ive paid shitloads and have more than paid back the investment in fees and other knock on effects like mortages and all the other taxable things i'd never be able to get to prior to becoming C.Eng(hons).

Education should be free to all. Like health care, and also the basic staples of sustenance. Some will not appreciate further education and need more vocational training. Apprenticeships etc. Again it should be free. Its about time we invested in our children from nursery onwards. I applaud Scotland in this instance.

None. Scotland got it bang on. But then we have history here after all I believe we were the 1st to offer education for all. Something to do with J Knox, damned if i can remember.

Yeah, but you wouldnt like him. Reformation and all that. He pretty much established the Presbyterian Church. He was a bit of a god nazi.

Not entirely, since in this context a person who is "English" may have skin which is white, black, brown or yellow, and may have ancestors who came from Saxony, Normandy, Africa or Pakistan. It means English residents, not people of English race.
