Such is the tradition with Ducati, incredible but flawed, you have to buy with your eyes open. Honda will, maybe, churn out a roadgoing RCV2-whatever, and it'll probably be 1mph slower than the Desmo, 1kg heavier, 1 this, 1 that. But in twenty years time there'll be some nutjob earning a living dispatching on one, it'll be that reliable.
I've been racking my brains to think of one that ,amongst the very large number of bikes that I've owned, that I really didn't like...if it started and took me where I wanted to go,it had it's charms...but if I had to choose, possible candidates would include my old T150 Trident. My mate had been holding on to my slush fund in a desperate effort to stop me buying yet another British pile of shite, and only handed it over when I told him I was buying a 750 Kettle...trouble is he let me go in to the shop on my own,and I came out with the keys to the the Trident. What a hound it was...I pushed it home more times than I rode it,but it took ages before I admitted defeat and told the dealer to take it back or I'd burn his shop down...he gave me a T500 and cash to square things up.Turned out the Trident had dodgy Boyer Bransden ignition fitted and it just fooked about when hot... Apart from that I'm struggling to think of a bad bike...poor handling...meh...I've had shagged out old TS250's on the limit with the bars flapping about,it scares onlookers more than it bothers me tbh...even my old 500 H1 would turn,as long as you didn't wang it on mid-corner...admittedly the fuel consumption was horrendous though.... I must be easily pleased
