Motegi 2015 Spoiler - The Battle Continues

Discussion in 'Racing & Bike Sport' started by Air Duck, Oct 6, 2015.

  1. Lorenzo's tyre definitely looks the worst. They were wondering if the wings on lorenzo's bike made the tyre wear quicker.

  2. I think JLo's early pace is what did the tyres in. His style is heavy on fronts, whereas Pedrosa (and Hondas in general) do a lot of steering with the rear and firing it out on the middle of the tyre.

Really, the wings should only come into effect at speed (think plane taking off). Whilst cornering, the speed isn't high enough and the wings become angled at a near right angle to the ground in a way that 'lift' would be towards the apex. Not enough lift to change the bikes line or anything. The tyres alone provide too much grip to be pushed and pulled in that way.

As they said in commentating. Every single rider (Ducati included) and crew have said they cannot tell a difference. Only aerodynamic engineers 'trying' it on for size.

  3. The wings are bloody ugly that's one thing I'm certain of!

  4. there is more to racing than setting the fastest lap or going hammers an tongs in the early stages. no disrespect to loz, although im not a fan, he is FAST as fvk, smooth and can win from the front and as it turns out ride like fuck in the wet but he was on the same tyres as rossi. how he managed them, due to his style or his haste was his own undoing. it still aint in the bag for the Dr though 3 firsts for loz and 3rds or worse for the doc and its bye bye... or numerous combinations... but you gotta love an 18 point lead!!!!

  6. i think his wet racing was pretty good up untill he broke his collar bone in the wet in 2013 then he lost it, even pulled out of a race when he got some rain on his visor didnt he? but he certainly looked the part today till he had over cooked his rubber!

  7. Well he couldn't have. Or he would have won. As said above, its not about fast Laps, its about consistency over the duration enough to either be there for a last lap snatch and grab or disappear for the win

He just seems to struggle in comparison to rossi and marquez when managing tyres that have gone off

  8. i think you have misread my last post... we are in agreement on this! i think his form used to be good in the wet till his crash in assen 2013 and although he has regained his speed in the wet he aint the full package
