From everything I’ve read, the race director instigated a new start procedure due to safety - and I haven't seen anything about 10 of them getting a ride-through?
Whoever your allegiances lay with, Pecco was brilliant this weekend. Everyone bumming 93 after the last round and all that nonsense he caused (again) but Pecco just went about his business. I wonder if the mind games might get reversed over the course of the season…. He’s the only rider who could probably manage it v 93
I’ll not inflict you with a disagree but Dovi had a character, Peco on the other hand is as dull as ditch water Andy
I dont know if anyone else is using motogp.com for their viewing, but I was sick of hearing from the commentators about the ‘special’ helmet design that Marc Marquez was wearing. Ffs, get a grip. Something else that has just come to mind, Marc was missing a footrest and also had a jagged edge on his windscreen after his off. To me, unsafe of both counts. Should have been black flagged. Maybe I am missing something?
Frankly unbelievable that he wasn’t black flagged. Also thought Ducati would have instructed him to pit given the risk to their expensive rider.
I like Pecco, he is a good egg. He seems to be liked by others as well. He received some really nice congrats for his win on Sunday. I think it was Rossi who said that Pecco comes from a good family. He certainly is not an "all about me" narcissist. He is good for the Ducati brand, communicates well even in English.
Everything about the whole farce and the subsequent transcript tells me 93 is Ducatis number one focus this year.
I don’t think he’s devoid of a personality Andy, just don’t think he has to be centre of attention and acting like the class clown all the time, he’s a bit shy (not unusual for a kid in his mid 20s) and he chooses his word’s carefully, very very similar to Dovi. Evidence points to him having quite a few more brain cells than his rival(s) too, to put it mildly.
Still no confirmation of a penalty for the riders that left the grid to be served at Qatar. Mike Webb may have felt forced to step in on safety grounds but it would appear from what has been written in several articles, he still had the opportunity to hand out the appropriate penalties to the riders, during the race. By not doing so, he has created the dilemma of carrying over the penalty to the next race or doing nothing. My memory is telling me MM dodged a carried over penalty by not racing at the next venue and there was an outcry that he didn’t serve it when he returned at the following venue. This brinksmanship is, IMO, bringing MotoGP into disrepute. I can see myself not bothering in the near future. Andy
Completely agree with this and I love the bike racing. I was also feeling that actual racing at the front was nearly none existent after a couple of laps, not how it used to be. Introduction of tyre pressure rule has reduced the close racing up front, as riders spend too much time monitoring tyre pressure/heat. Your point about ‘Brinksmanship’ that is being kind tbh. MM in particular has seemed to have a special relationship with race authorities for many years now. We see other riders with penalties …and others without. I made the point earlier that I was puzzled why Marc was not black flagged on safety grounds (missing footrest, therefore not in full control and a dangerous broken screen..) yet I remember Fabio being penalised (or was he flagged…) when he had zip problems on his leathers. Motogp is in danger of becoming the Marc Marquez show, but not for the right reasons.
