Im going and I spend ages near the pits poking my nose in and see whats going on. Its the one thing about Silverstone I like, the lack of gate staff.
The facilities at Donington really were third world, if the MotoGP went back there I wouldn't go. I actually quite like Silverstone, OK, you can't see all the track, but compared to going to the football I don't have a problem with the queues for food and toilets. However, I think I'm paying £60 a head for a raceday ticket to Misano in a few weeks time...
I'm staying in the woodlands campsite, is that actually on the circuit grounds or do you have to travel to the circuit? And does it get all muddy like a festival?
As a spectator rather than a consumer, Donington beats Silverstone hands down (or did, I've not been there since before the close/reopening saga). The facilities weren't up to date, but what do you need to watch some racing? There were toilets and drink/food stalls, but sadly no chandeliers... My preference would definitely be for Brands.
I'm going. I went last year,in the Ducati stand, and the view was fantastic,as was the racing, and the company I didn't queue for food and drink because I took my own. (I don't pay big bucks for ear-and-nose Burgers washed down with a pint of horse piss). Entrance is a tad pricey, but what the hey,it's only once a year. The day out is what you make it,as it always is. Come on Scott! Come on Cal!
Its only got worse since. A lot worse. Brands is definitely the best spectator circuit but you wont ever see Motogp there.
