Moto Rapido Or W M Snell

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by moz, Nov 12, 2019.

  1. What does he charge, my mate charges £50 an hour, he is a one man band and has MOT and new Dyno Facilities - many of the local dealers use him for problem solving too, he's multiple Main Dealer trained over 30 years: Honda, Kawasaki, Ducati, Aprilia and is the best in our area by far...

  2. I've used Snells for years though I've never bought a bike from them. They are good, reliable and diligent. I remember Paul too (thanks for reminding me Bradders) and he'd be happy to discuss your bike and tell you the ins and outs of what he was doing.

I didn't know Paul was now independent. Eastleigh is a bit further than Snells but I may give him a go. I have also found a new, young, independent in Horley, Surrey, Jack Robinson (yes, as quick as that!). He replaced my head bearings and I'm very pleased with his work at £45/hr. He's trained on Ducs and worked for 8 years at P&H. I met him at a Ducati Roadshow earlier this year where P&H had him along to give technical help. I watched him start my job and he was meticulous and methodical. If you are interested his number is 0771 1806204.

  4. Went to see Paul today. Seems like a top bloke. So he will be servicing the bike in January I reckon.

  5. Sounds good. My next Desmo service is in 7k miles time. I'll keep an open mind as to whom I'll get to do it but it's likely to be an independent like Paul or Jack Robinson.

  6. You won't be disappointed - if you haven't had your suspension set up properly then I'd recommend asking Paul to do that as well :)

  7. I liked Moto-Rapido when I got my bike serviced, and they sorted me out when my Water pump failed on the 899 a day out of warranty. I was in there a few times though when Wilf was in there with his BSB manager and honestly got the impression he was going to tell me to 'get the f*ck out'... Equally, when he mapped my 848 he was super chatty and talked me through it all, so I'll chalk it up to the pressures of trying to run a race team and a business (and this was in the days where mid pack was more the norm). Not had servicing done at Snells, there's other things that put me off about Snells.

  8. Both great dealers in different ways.... But given the choice I’ve had more pleasant experiences at Snells and generally have gone out of there way more to help out.... Think it very much depends on the day and who you speak to and how you come across.... service department at MR can be challenging if Andy is on the desk:D.... but no real complaints :punch:

  9. Just a quick note to praise Snells, booked my 899 for a quick repair to gear selector switch.
Whilst in the workshop they attached a loose horn connector, cleaned sticking gear rod which.
    Excellent service and v friendly.
On Yer Bike were closer but they couldn’t be bothered to return two calls.
Stuart was great to deal with.

  11. Well after my few recent purchases, One of them being rather expensive and a big commitment, and lots of equally expensive upgraded parts supplied by Moto Rapido parts team (Craig & Luke) I'm happy to confirm that they have been totally fantastic in all aspects. Answering my many questions and keeping me well informed with updates :upyeah: keep up the good work boys...Very positive

  12. Have used both for different reasons and can't fault the help/ advice and parts assistance. Sadly I live too far North to use them on a regular basis and JHP have been great too.

  13. My multistrada is at snells presently getting the Desmo service they do a pick up and drop off service yes the service is expensive but Im unaware of a good local guy that could possibly offer the same service
Will let you know how it goes when the bike gets delivered back to me next week

  14. Snells have worked on four of my Ducati and the work was great, priced where I'd expect a main dealer to be.
    749R, Pikes Peaks and 998S.
Never used MR, as they are just that bit further out of London.

  15. I recently had my Multi serviced at MR and had no issues with them. Its my first Ducati and due to the slightly vague service history (all dealer stamps up until the last one and it should have had the belts replaced but no paperwork for the service) So I agreed with the non Ducati Dealer I bought the bike from that I would arrange service and belt replacement myself in exchange for a discount on the price.

I duly booked it in at MR as they are my nearest dealer, explained to Andy the situation and we talked through what they were doing and to give it the once over for any issues should I need to take it back to where I got it while its still got a warranty. Annual service, belts and brake/clutch fluid replacement as per service book. They replaced a couple fuel seals, refitted the tank properly from where it had been fitted incorrectly and gave me a Monster to use while mine was in. All in all very happy with the service and at expected dealer rates.

I don't think i'll be using Riders Ducati (Bristol or Bridgewater). Asked for a quote for the same work as they were offering a free collection and return promotion, I nearly fell over when he gave me the price, I even had to double check that it wasn't for a desmo service as I couldn't believe what they were quoting?

  16. Well bike got dropped off last Tuesday the guy that does the pick up and drop offs is excellent he put my bike back in the garage for me out of harms way I had the full Desmo service and new belts fitted as the dealer I brought the bike from said it had be done but I saw nothing in the service book so got that done as a precaution and while in there had a hands free fuel cap fitted at an extra £200 on the price
The bill was as expected tad over a grand which is a lot of money but I’m happy doesn’t need another big service until 22,000 mls for me that’s a couple of years and the next couple of services are just an oil change I want to keep this bike and look after it and have no interest in selling so for me it’s worth paying the money
    I would highly recommend snells

  17. If picking up and collecting - does anyone happen to know what sort of radius Snells would cover?

  18. I live in the woking area and snells picked up my multistrada and that’s about 21 miles
Ring up Stuart for a quote

  19. first dealt with Moto Rapido in 2014 and bought 899 good all round experience, service guys where great, end of 2014 looked at 1199 at snells quite helpful and mentioned new bike due. we had a lads day out to Milan in October and a deal was struck with MR on the 1299S i idid try to have a deal with Snells but it was getting painful almost as if they didn't want to sell a bike, hence MR got the deal. Have had great experience with MR and service who are great to deal with. i have had the 1299 since 2015 and after the Norton saga and no bike coming I was passing MR sort of so went in to have a chat. sat in front of Andrew and said i need a new bike and after a coffee we had a deal sorted. Iain spotted me from the workshop and came out to say hello and have a quick chat. new bike in a month happy days.
