Yeah, £26 plus £8.40 shipping although the packaging could have been a touch better, bin bags aren’t renowned for their protective characteristics but it arrived relatively unscathed
Admittedly I didn’t know what it was when I bid on it, I took a gamble on it thinking I could use it to make a race tank for the project… I got lucky
100% agree. I’ve spoken with Ducati in Bologna to double check it’s not reported missing. I don’t believe it is but you never know, not worth taking the risk. Although Ducati’s main concern seems to be they think I’m fishing for a pump for it, and maybe a full set of fairings, wiring loom and a chassis their email only has 3 paragraphs in it and they say about 12 times they don’t sell Ducati Corse parts to the public.
Happens more than you think on eBay, people clearing out relatives parts or simply don’t know how rare an item is because they can’t find a similar item or confuse a similar item with theirs. Prime example is 749/999 rear mono subframes, sometimes pop up at Biposta subframe prices as they don’t notice the subtle difference in the parts. Also being an auction, a few days before Christmas not everyone is looking for race parts. I find it’s best to put rare items up as a buy now rather than an auction unless you are prepared to maybe lose out. Some people just don’t let Ducati consume every aspect of their very existence…. Losers
It's suddenly made your build more challenging now you have to build frame as well, printer will be busy
Forgive me if you are aware of "easy composites" but they do carbon fibre skinning kits. Not relevant if you are using the parts you are making as plugs to make moulds
Yeah I’ve used the same kit once before to see what it involved to skin a CRC V4 rear fairing panel. I made a bit of a mess of it but it’s all learning… and it survived 3 days at Cartagena without delaminating itself and decapitating anyone behind me It is a great kit, I’ll certainly be using it again.
Wow. Holy shit the bed! Well done you. l love it when deals like that happen to proper folk. Yes it would be a shame to mod it. But I wouldn’t worry too much. Just think about how many exotic bike bits get smashed to fuck in the gravel. So don’t be too precious about it.
Unfortunately I’ve had to pause the project while I design some prototype parts for a TT rider, hoping to resume the GP project once the TT is out of the way. and I’ll probably pop a post on about the TT work when I’m able to as well as it’s been very interesting
