It's clear that Zinedine Zidane emerged from the Yamaha frame and head-butted Marquez off the Honda.

    He has form.

  13. Or waiting for publication of the CAS reserved judgement, which may end up meaning the title is only decided in January or whatever, when they deliver their ruling.

  14. If the 3 penalty points are put on hold prior to the race and VR doesn't start from the back of the grid then, even if the penalty points are subsequently confirmed, they cannot effectively be "backdated", the race would have been run and race points awarded. How could the effect of the penalty, if it had been applied prior to the race, be calculated.

  15. Do you reckon? I've seen nothing on here lately to suggest that. :Watching:

  17. Having watched that several times I tend to agree.

Perhaps the racers on here can answer this - is there anything in the rule book which says words to the effect of a rider must take the racing line, or try to make the apex, or ride at a "race pace"?

The reason I ask, is that if Rossi is entitled by the strict letter of the rule book to turn in whenever he wants, to pick his own line and to take the corner at whatever speed he chooses, then he's not fallen foul of the rules, save for perhaps a catch all "riding irresponsibly" judgment call/discretionary decision, which, as everyone knows, is what he was penalised for.

However, after looking at the footage over and over it seems to me that he caused no danger to either himself or Marquez simply by missing the apex, taking a very wide line while drifting out towards the outside of the track and then decelerating while tracking Marquez's arc. Although there was eventually very possibly/probably a collision between them, this was actually initiated by Marquez leaning in on Rossi and making contact with his helmet on Rossi's knee (and possibly other parts of either rider or bike touched, but it's not clear) at which it looks like Rossi fended him off with his knee slider into Marquez's visor, immediately after which, for reasons which are unclear, Marquez lost control as they disengaged.

PS: I seem to recall that Foggy was pretty handy at letting off the brakes and running people out wide if the mood so took him, though I must admit, I've never seen anything like the VR/MM incident before.
