  1. Yep, Gobert... stole Hodgsons helmet from the garage and p*ssed in it and put it back... was always half drunk, then eventually lost all the supporters he had and last reports were that he was into pretty hard drugs and had been charged for robbery of a pensioner at one point. If he's still alive he's unfortunately not got a lot going for him these days.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  2. Without a doubt equally as naturally talented on a motorcycle as Rossi, Lorenzo, Stoner, and Marquez... One of the few people that all the greats sighted as genuinely gifted..

  3. Watching the slo-mo from the inside track angle on MM ramming Olivera, all I can say is thank god for back protectors :astonished: , Olivera’s certainty earned its keep yesterday! Could have broken his back hitting him at that speed!
Also very noticeable how the race settled down without further incident once MM had binned it, almost as though the rest of the racers thought “ right, now that dickheads out we can get on with it “ …MM seems desperate, dangerous and out of control these days

  5. And had more fan appeal charisma. MM has zero of that.

  6. really late in his career he rode a Virgin Yamaha for Rob Mac can imagine they fell out in about 11 seconds!!! He was already looking chubby (for a racer) and unwell, and I think that’s probably the last he was seen in Europe

  7. Marquez to miss Argentina GP
After surgery to repair the broken first metacarpal in his right hand, Marc Marquez will miss the second round.

  8. absolutely agree Without Marquez MotoGP is boring , full stop , which other rider could get pole position on a bike which is mid grid at best , nobody only Marquez it’s racing not babies riding round

  9. Each to their own of course but that's an interesting take, what are you expecting from an entertainment perspective?

  11. Possibly something more like this….

  12. If you don’t allow this (going for a space with a reasonable chance to get through) you get a procession not a race

And if I am right on the background to the second was that 2 Spaniards from different teams were conspiring to deny a 10th world title to an Italian, and the gloves came off.

  13. And IIRC, Rossi mouthed off to this effect. And in doing so, created himself a powerful enemy in the form of MM.

MotoGP is missing this drama now. When MM jacks it in, there will be no villains left and it’ll be become a snooze fest…

  14. Grown men only able to enjoy a sport if two of its greatest ever are slagging each other off in the press (because lets face it that’s all they ever did) has to be one of the saddest things ive read on this forum lol.

  15. Or deluded enough that MotoGP lives or dies by one riders participation, plenty enough racing once MM was down and out. Maybe MM desperation to prove himself king for his ego is making his judgement during the race poor if not dangerous.

  16. Just caught up on this thread, there's some interesting comments when I read through them from FP1 to post main race and everything in between.

    Some notes/comments from me: -

    1. Jack Miller, Alex Marquez and Joan Mir stood out to me as riders who probably punched well above where I expected them to be in FP1,2, and 3.

    2. Qualifying - MM did his usual from the last few years by hanging on the tail feathers of a faster rider. Rossi did the same in his twilight years. Basically Marc can no longer do the faster lap under his own steam, whether that's him and/or the bike is yet to be determined. But given how well Mir was going initially you would think the bike is better than has been made out.

    3. Pol, very lucky not to be more seriously hurt. It was an odd crash and that corner is a horrible unsighted flat corner. There has been lots of complaints over the last few years about the gravel etc at Portimao, maybe this was a contributing factor here and I hope that the circuit owners/Dorna will review the issues this weekend and make the appropriate changes to increase track safety.

    4. Sprint race, I knew last year this would be the race to watch, no tyre concerns, no fuel concerns and there are certain riders who will revel in this shorter format. And it didn't disappoint, if you've ever raced it's like a club race - elbows out, and lots of pushing and shoving, it's not beautiful, it's a dog fight and that's what we got. However, given the risk I think it should have been safer. Saying that it only takes one rider to go balls out the rest will follow.

    5. Main race, well where to start... Marc from pole had to try and get away, he knows he hasn't got the bike or possibly the self belief that he can win or get on the podium. I think ahead of the race he'd stated a top 5 was a push. So he did exactly what he had to do to try and make the most of things while he could. Straight away at turn 3 he nearly lost the front then feet off the pegs going up into turn 4, he was lucky to even get beyond that. Then on the very next lap he did exactly the same tried to out brake everyone and clipped Martin and T-boned Oliveira.

    6. Marc did what any racer would do, but there has to be a line and he's crossed that numerous times throughout his career with little consequence to him or the team over the years. He's an awesome talent but he's also the most dangerous rider I've seen in years. Simoncelli was mentioned earlier, but he was a rookie in the big class and was working it out in that year, managed a podium or two from memory before the tragedy of Sepang. A double long lap penalty doesn't fit the crime IMO, Martin broken toe and now Oliveira out of Argentina. Both of those were on for a good points haul last weekend and now Miguel won't even bag any points at the next round. Marc has effectively blown his own title chances out of the water for another year and possibly a decent finish for Martin and Oliveira this year at the first round.

Did I enjoy the racing? Of course I did it was epic!

  17. I dont care if MM is on the grid ever again, it will make no difference to me.
A big shame though that we will not find out if Oliveira has ‘it’ on the Aprilia until after Argentina. Thanks to a ‘race incident’. Bastianini being out will be a greater miss than MM as he actually does have race pace, not just ‘ability’* to qualify.
    * This needs to be quantified, MM qualifies by getting a tow. Within the rules? Yes. Race pace? No. MM has already been dangerous with this practice…

There is plenty action with Miller, Marini, Bez etc.? Without needing the actions of an idiot spoiling each race.
