I believe Aggreagte Industries were involved in the re-surfacing of the track. Will be interesting to see how this pans out. We will nn doubt never get to know the "real" outcome. Got an email on Friday saying the same as @Addiction I'm at Aragon in a couple of weeks, hope that one doesn't get cancelled.
FIM publish "Standards for Circuits", which apply to all FIM-sanctioned racetracks. The document includes requirements for track gradient and for drainage. Straights must: "... be banked in order to allow proper drainage of the surface water. The transversal incline along the straights should be maintained between 1.5 per cent and 3 per cent." Also: "... a proper drainage system must ensure that the racetrack, pit lane, verges, run-off areas and gravel beds are cleared of any surface water. When calculating the possible flow of water, local climatic conditions must be respected." Pity about that.
Received email from Silverstone yesterday, refund of £370-00,happy enough with that, paid £420 for 3 woodcote grandstand 3 day tickets,so for 3 of us to watch Friday practice and Saturday practice and qualifying £50 loss isn't too bad
been told im to get a £150.00 refund (thats on 2 £90 weekend tickets). more than happy as i expected and hoped for nothing.. it was just one of those things in my mind...
Just checked my bank account for something and noticed I’ve received my refund. £65 for the Sunday ticket and booking fee. Just in time for my trip to Oktoberfest in Stuttgart next week!!
Fair play to Silverstone. Pretty sure they will not have had full recompense from insures, but see this as a big pr issue and dealt with it accordingly
