Not sure whether to take the suggestion that I could write for MCN as an insult or a compliment, given the general views about MCN as a publication! The other half only bought his brand new Diavel in September, so I think a new Multistrada might have to wait a couple of years yet ... I did go along to a few Wey Valley IAM sessions a few years back, including a slow riding day, and have also done some ROSPA training (though the Manx equivalent of Delhi belly stopped me doing the test), and have done a few days with Rapid Training - I'm not averse to advanced training. But I still find it very hard to relax at the slow riding and slippy stuff.
Should have done a disclaimer and said there are other motorcycling magazines lol, I know how you feel, as I had similar worries, slow riding and slippy stuff mmmm how about yamaha experience ? Enduro wales or the guys at Sussex it's a right hoot, you can fall off as much as you like without the fear of damaging your own bike, and you really get the feel of what it's like when the bikes moving on loose surfaces, I've done it twice and loved it
The problem with most of the off road experiences is that they use tall bikes and I have short legs - hence my excitement on sitting on the CCM. Conventional trailie/enduro bikes (and absolutely everything KTM have ever produced, including their 125s) are way too big - I couldn't even climb on and push them upright off a side stand, let alone think about being able to pull up to a standstill and put a foot down (on the flat, nevermind where there is any camber). I think there might be a place in Devon which used to offer some sort of try off roading days for kids - even if it's just chucking a motocrosser round a dirt track in a field - whether they'd let me play on a bike aimed at 12 year olds, I don't know. CCM offer test rides - I might be tempted.
