poor mans netflix xbmc ftw. it was full clear 720 hd on my 42" monitor,definately come along way from those chink dodgys down the pub. good film for teenagers i reckon,not so good for us oldies that expect a bit o depth and story
You and I have a very different definition of "full clear 720 HD". I seen the best so far on xbmc and none are full clear 720 HD not even close. You are talking to a movie maniac so for me in order (not done 4k yet as do not have 4k TV). 1. 4k movie uncompressed (DTS Sound) 2. 1080p movie uncompressed (DTS Sound) 3. 720p movie uncompressed (DTS Sound) 4. 1080p movie compressed but file about 7GB-8GB pending movie length (DTS or mkv 5.1) 5. Rest is bad quality but I could get a 720p compressed to paly on my phone only.
BTW that means no streaming services for me provide a proper full HD as they all compress and 95% of them compress and send as 720p.
yeh,mine too. file says 720 hd,i have it on my hard drive still,plays clear on monitor,im happy,thats my full technical level.i dont care what techshmech is involved as long as its watchable.:Happy: I seen the best so far on xbmc rubbish ,afraid you obviously havent.and if your using a premade "plugin" then you wont for months. brush up up on your russian.
First of all I refuse to pay for content that is already illegal and can be gotten for free if you are going to go that route. Secondly this is what I call medium quality that I would only consider to play on my phone (720p compressed) If you wait another 10 min I can show you 1080p compressed and also try and upload photo of 1080p uncompressed (BluRay).
Funny bit is for all I care your screen, eye sight, is rather average and all the movies look blurry to you
Uh and photo you are showing is what is called a Bluray screen (before that dvd screener). They did not make a digital copy of the movie but rather setup a set to play it on tv in 720p then recorded it with HD camera having sound feed directly via headphone jack. Another trick is to stream it and record the stream which as a result records in average quality but with no embedded security.
:Hilarious: i would say you are a very useful person to know,unfortunately i havent a clue what you just said. apart from yes,blurry eyesight and glasses :Hilarious:,and an easily pleased color palette is most likely. i have a bluray player and tbh its not much better than anything else ive played via the pc at whatever res that is. my pc feeds the 42" telly direct and again no idea the technicals but its very clear to me as for sound i have very bad tinnitus and have to wear headphones so posh sound is wasted on me. hehe,but i dont care,beer, bike,grub n warm n dry,most important things in life eh. horns isnt good mind..heheh.
Lucas, you remind me of all the hi-fi buffs. They don't care what crap they are listening to so long as it is rendered in the highest possible quality. I'm not overly bothered about ultimate film quality just so long as the film itself is really good. But I wouldn't look at Apocalypse Now on my iPhone.
To a degree I agree but would you watch apocalypse now if you could not make out if it is a cobra or huey? I know when to stop I will not go and buy a golden hdmi cable cause quality will be better. I will not as I know it is a digital cable so as long as all 1s and 0s get through quality will be as sent. Those crazy music people on the other hand do not stop. Movie for me is all about experience so I need to be sorrounded by sound as it was recorded and meant to be played coupled with high quality image. Picture speaks a thousand words so I want them clear, rest comes via DTS hehe.
I saw Inglorious Basterds last night which I hadn't seen before. Absolutely brilliant film. It got me thinking about the gulf between good films (or shall we say enjoyable films) and truly superb films. So I thought I's stick together a sort of Top 10 of my favourite films. I can't claim that this is definitive, as it is hard to remember all the films I have thought particularly amazing, but it's a good starter. I suspect some of the 60s films in the list are more for the atmosphere they have than anything else. Anyway, they are all part of my very favourites - things I would buy on DVD or already have (and I don't generally buy films on DVD). Matrix terrible, you need to reset that top 10! IB is a fab movie. Only bad Tarantino one is that one about the bikers. Can't remember the name but the lead guy is the fella who runs the club in Kill Bill that the Bills brother works in as a doorman. Terrible actor.

Only one Ridley Scott entry? And no John Carpenter? Seriously? There's easily another ten that I could supply with little effort. These are films that have moved me enormously in their own ways.
I tried to limit my Top 10 to one director each for a bit of variety, but there are plenty of Scorsese films that could have made it - so I just chose my favourite. It's very interesting to have other people's Top 10s. Gives some ideas of things to see. Oh, and I forgot David Lynch's Eraserhead in my list. Scary as anything and totally brilliant.
