  1. Eh?

If not for acting then special effects erm plenty better ones from boring transformers, via Captain America to Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Or Godzilla or 300

Music Grand Budapest Hotel maybe or 300 had some good music in right places.

Noah sadly will probably win something, Gone Girl must win stuff it is fantastic just as good as Seven if not better and I think better then Argo and that one last year wiped the floor. Interstellar will apparently be good. So much more of movies that were not played in UK as to small as well.

Nef Fury is well crap for me.

  2. That was my first thought, too.

Aside from Fury, which I have not yet seen, you are not far off the mark, I reckon. Grand Budapest Hotel ought to win something simply for bucking the trend and not substituting eye candy for plot.

  3. Booked tickets for interstellar for next week, can't wait....been waiting for that for ages....

  4. Wolf of Wall Street. Very good and really long, but its basically Casino and Goodfellas crossed with Catch me if You Can

  5. Leonardo DiCaprio has come on a long way over years - Wolf of wall street I found funny more than anything else....id say probably inception is my favourite of his....

Interstellar was really good as well.....very realistic, some good twists on the story as well. Look forward to watching it again in 1080p at home...

  6. I like it when he says in Wolf of Wall Street - "after the Quaalude I drove back to the house really carefully and surprisingly I didn't put a mark on the car...." - top stuff....

  7. Watched Lone Survivor last night. First two acts are very good, very visceral and engaging. The last act then ruins all the hard work that came before it. Shame. Good performances by the four leads though

  8. Frozen = brilliant :)

  11. Cool, I like his Ian M Banks sci fi books. The Wasp Factory though was fucking disturbing. He was a terrific writer.

  14. books are just sleeping pills these days, two pages then i am gone. wife reads all the time, but i guess being a wumin she has more time on her hands. :Angelic::smile:

  15. Can't wait for another IB serialisation/movie. I quite liked the Complicity film and the BBC six-parter of The Crow Road was superb.

Some IMB science fiction - done well - would blow my mind :)

  17. You're right, fin. I had that feeling as well. Especially when I read the Bridge - I was recovering from a serious RTA at the time. Talk about freaky coincidences.

  18. started reading whit a wee while back kept falling asleep two pages in, need to give it another go. espadair street was the first one i read, all based around my home village/town superb.
the long road to garbadale if that wasn't based on my family then feck me, what a coincidence. mentioned on here once that i met him on a deserted end of season campsite in argyll, think he was righting crow road at the time, cool dude.
