Mra variable screen !

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Andybow, Dec 31, 2013.

  1. I'm another 6'5" and have one of these. Seems the best option that I have found.

Can't be adjusted on the move though. Actually, after having been parked up in the garage for a few months I couldn't adjust it all until I sprayed liberally with penetrant spray...

  2. Two be clear and avoid confusion there are two models, the Vario and the X-Creen. The Latter being the larger of the two according to the HPS site.

  3. I have this MRA screen on my 2013. Smaller than OEM but does the job with less buffeting. I'm 6ft
I drilled out the small MRA mounting holes and fitted OEM rubber grommets so now I can use the Duke cap bolts and swap between screens in 3 minutes.

Also have a Pike's Peak fly-screen with OEM grommets for general riding in the Summer.

  4. Thanks Andy. I have some from Ultimate but have always found it difficult to get a good seal - especially my left ear for some reason! I am trying some Howard Leight SNR 28 reusable plugs as recommended on here somewhere. Only short journeys so far but seem very good being quiet, comfortable and easy to insert using the little 'stalk'. Cheap as chips too.

  5. "Is this the short or taller version chaps? "

I see it has an X-screen sticker so that makes it the taller one.

  6. I have one of these on my 'winter' bike (TDM 900) and find it very good. The top section has about 20 positions so lots of trial and error to find the optimum. It can be fully up as a variable angle screen extension, fully down to act as a 'double skin' allowing more wind on the face if desired or anywhere in between these extremes. The funnel effect of the top section seems to give a buffet free quiet flow that is thrown up above screen height.

Haven't tried one on the Multi but thinking of getting one as I find even the 2013 model still a little noisier than ideal (though much better than the 2010 and without the buffeting problems). I would recommend the taller X-screen for anyone over 6' tall.

I agree that the quality of MRA screens is excellent.

  7. Hello again Andy

New PP is due very shortly. Thanks for advice re screen. Will be ordering the MRA Vario large. Another question now. Where did you get your rear mudguard and is it easy to fit? It looks absolutely superb.

  8. For anybody interested I've just seen one of these listed on eBay, it's just gone on as a multistrada 1200 screen.

nothing to do with me but it looks well used although I'm sure fine for most

  9. I only see praise for the MRA Vario screens so am tempted to get one for the long fast touring runs.

Has anyone any complaints or negative comments about them - thought I would ask before parting with the hard-earned.

  10. Nope, best screen I've tried (normal MRA not X-screen) on my 2010 model. Fancy trying the bigger one tho. Use mine with spacers and eagle screens deflectors in winter and a shorty in the summer.
